Born in 1999, the Toyota Tundra quickly became one of the preferred pick-up trucks in America. Much like all other Toyota vehicles, the reliability and quality of this rig, launched it to fame, earning a reputation of being strong, solid, reliable, durable and great for off roading.
Perhaps Toyota can be considered one of the best, if not the best vehicle manufacturer for off road purposes. The Toyota Tundra pick up truck certainly fits that description.
It's the largest truck Toyota makes, suitable for those who wanted something bigger than the Tacoma, and comparable to the F150 in size. This is a serious truck, capable of hauling and towing and carrying larger loads.
Now, if you're here it means you want to upgrade it, add aftermarket mods to your Tundra, in particular racks, whether that's a bed rack, a platform rack or crossbars. You came to the right place.
To explain the difference amongst the different options, you need to evaluate what you'll be suing your Toyota Tundra for. If you plan to carry large items or heavy ones over the bed, then we recommend a strong bed rack.
The height is up to you, if you need space below the rack, get the taller versions, which are the same height as the cab. if you don't want noise or wind to cause resistance, get the bed racks that sit at mid height, so whatever you put over them won't be standing taller than the cab.
If you plan to carry large items or heavy ones on the roof of your vehicle, we heavily recommend platform cargo carrying roof racks, such as the Slimline II by Front Runner, or the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform, or Prinsu racks just to name a few.
These work great for truly heavy items such as roof top tents, and to carry any object, gear or item that you can think of. Generally they have a dynamic weight capacity (the weight a vehicle can carry when in motion) of over 500 lbs.
Also, if you plan to go overlanding, then you want to equip your Toyota Tundra with a reliable and strong rack, such as a platform rack.
If all you need os to carry lighter weight and gear, such as fishing rods, boards, ladders, or other gear, then a set of cross-bars for your Toyota Tundra will do the trick. They are affordable, reliable, and if you choose the right ones, they can even carry an RTT.
Make sure you're also aware of which generation of Toyota Tundra you have, we do offer racks, bed racks and cross-bars for a 1st gen, 2nd gen and 3rd gen Toyota Tundra.
When it comes to bed racks, the brands that we offer are the following:
Make sure to check the hight of each bed rack system so you choose what you need. For example, RCI makes bed racks that are 12" tall (mid height) or 18" tall.
Also, identify what you want and need. Front Runner offers load bed bars, which are strong and useful, but are very different from the Slimline II bed rack they have.
Finally, take a look at the build and material of the rack, for example, Leitner has an ACS Classic bed rack, and an ACS Forged version, which is forged and slightly better.
When it comes to full platform racks we offer:
As to the roof racks, look at features such as drill or non-drill versions. They are both strong enough to carry large weight, but drill options do require more experience when you install them, and are capable of carrying larger weight on your Toyota Tundra.
Finally, when it comes to crossbars for your Tundra we offer:
