If you’re building out a vehicle with no additional space for a dual battery under the hood, this is the perfect solution. Place anywhere inside the vehicle and use the supplied wiring to set-up fairly easily. The multiple USB, 12v and Hella Plugs are perfect for any overland or camping adventure.
The Tuff Stuff Overland Roof Top Tent is a great product. Installation was fairly easy following the instructions. I had help to get it up on to the racks but other than that it is mostly a one person set up. It was nice to have a second person there to help flip it when drilling the holes as well. after getting it set up on the racks we opened it up and it was easy. I would definitely get this product again and love how easy it is to set up and take down. I have it on a Chevy Colorado with bed racks and that is a bit short for the annex to hang down fully. A rack that went over the roof would be better for that but I don't currently have that. I also ordered the anti-condensation mat and those slide around quite a bit. When folding and unfolding the tent it slides through the opening in the middle and that is an issue. I have not been able to find a good way to keep them from sliding around when opening the tent. Love the tent and the service from Off Road Tents. They were great and I would contact them again if I needed anything. Thanks
Offroad tents had great customer service and got me what I needed in a quick manner, responded to all my emails right away... the rack is built really well and has sleek design in f150...I had shop drill holes cuz I was sceerd ! Lol... but other then that everything went on good.. use a straight Allen to tighten bolts instead of one provided you’ll thank me. Plan on rtt and awning up there.. looks great would buy again. Especially from this seller.
We had a great time using our new Bigfoot roof tent on our Texas roadtrip. Mounting was a little task because of the weight. A hoist attached to a stout limb finally worked well. The tent itself was easy to use. It takes 30 seconds to set it up, a minute to take it down. The mattress is made of very dense foam and could be a little softer, but we finally got used to that. A soft mattress topper helps a lot!
Performance on the vehicle: on our 2001 Isuzu Trooper we didn’t notice it. Wind noise practically was nill and the gas mileage didn’t change. Considering the increased top weight we drove the car more conservatively.
Over all we are very satisfied with the tent and would definitely buy it again. The staff at Off Road Tents was fantastic. Ordering process was effortless and delivery was perfectly timed. Highly recommended!
This Tepui liner was such a great addition to my Guana Equipment Wanaka 3. I am so pleased to have been steered on to it from the guys over at Guana Equipment. I highly recommend this for fall and winter camping.
Excellant idea and product
Very satisfied with this rooftop tent. The guys at off road tents were very helpful. Initially I was looking at other models, but what convinced me were the accessories that came with it. The shoe bags are really useful, the tent materials look great and it's spacious. Thank you!
The Morpho 270 is a great budget-friendly awning. It stores and deploys easily and the legs the support the arms are sturdy. The included guy lines keep the awning stable in winds and the awning fabric is durable. The hinge is constructed of metal instead of plastic like on some other awnings which adds to the overall quality of the awning. For $360 it’s a great buy!
RTT held very well with mounted Front Runner Slimeline ll rack system ..with the option of extended height legs which aloud more height in cargo bed area .
Added an extended addition to the Front Runner Slimeline ll cargo bed load rack . Now my RTT sits up higher in the cargo bed area .. more space to get to items loaded under the tonneau cover .
Great!! It's done just what I've expected from it!
It's an excellent camp light!
Although it's a small package, it's bulky for folks unfamiliar with dedicated, ambient camp lighting. It's small to those who are familiar. It has an excellent flood pattern, and it does a good job of lighting up a camp area approx 30*30ft in size. It can spread light on a wider area, but it'd show a better view by being raised higher up (think hooking it to a tree branch) to spread over a wider area. It's a cool blue white light, however I'm a fan of warmer lighting, It does a good job of lighting up the camp site, and when it's miserable, dark and cold, nothing beats it.
Great 2 person RTT very comfortable to sleep in . Ample space to store things with side pockets . It’s rated as a 4 season RTT will be trying it in colder weather
Condensation mat has kept the underneath foam mattress and tent floor dry .. no moisture to be found .
FYI .. I even recommended the condensation mat to a friend (Texas) who also has a TEPUI RTT
Great add on to the RTT. Used it it Yellowstone for 10 days during 4 days of rains and didn’t leak. Not a one man setup. It’s a must have accessory
The Alu-Box is a premium product at a premium price (although more affordable on Off-Road Tents than anywhere else I've found). The product appears to be water/dust-tight and is a perfect fit for my 4Runner. My wife and I have started adding stickers to the box at each of the National Parks/Monuments we visit, which has made it more than just an aluminum box. The Alu-Box doesn't leave our cargo area (it actually fits between the optional shelving system offered in the 4th Gen Premium package).
Excellent service, quick shipping. Very satisfied
tent is lightweight, although a bit tall.. I run on KBvood High rise bed bars, and puts the tent at about shoulder level. easier to fold up, and put away, but does not allow us to use the annex. tent works great, although after 6 months, I am seeing wear to the rain fly in spots where it rubs while traveling. more or less my problem, not the tents.
I researched RTTs to the end of the internet, and landed on the Smittybilt being the best investment. I have a small family (wife, two young kids) and the size and quality of this tent are perfect for our overlanding trips. I've only had the tent out a handful of times, but so far, I'm really happy with it.The money I saved on the tent allowed me to buy a high quality roof rack, and an onboard air compressor (ARB single piston) I installed it on my 2013 Jeep Wrangler JKU via a Rhino Rack Backbone with Pioneer Platform. I do notice a bit more weight, but nothing that significantly affects off-road performance. After all of my research I couldn't justify spending 2X-3X on a tent, if my sleeping experience was not going to be 2X-3X better. The quality seems very good. The materials are fairly standard in terms of fabric, seams, zippers, etc. Mattress is a little slim, but that is a cheap/easy fix with egg crate or other sleeping mat. We bought the annex too. Can't say enough about how luxurious it is to have the annex. It's quite big, lots of space to dress. Could easily sleep two more people. Cover is really great - the velcro attachment is strong, keeps tent clean, and really easy to install/remove. Highly recommend this tent if you've never bought an RTT. Don't waste money on a super expensive tent - start with this tent - find out if you like the set up or not - then if you really feel like you need an upgrade, sell your Smittybilt (they will sell fast) and upgrade.
Awsome awning and even better service. The first one I received was damaged in shipping and Karsten worked to get it replaced without hesitation.
It was alright if you have a larger hand or are attaching more than just a RTT definitley consider the front runner.
I purchased this rack for a recent 1100 mile three week vacation, it hauled everything we needed an more. Rugged Rack!
Great people to deal with
After over a year of research and debate, I finally decided on the Tuff Stuff Ranger. The included annex, boot bag, gear hammock, and pre order discount offered by OffRoadTents was too much value to pass up.
Assembly, watch the tuff stuff video on unpacking, assembly, and mounting. The video is missing the segment on how to bolt the aluminum rails to the bottom of the tent, however, youtube videos from other manufactures show how to complete this step with one person. I mounted my tent at the height of my trucks bed rails. It is possible to lift it up there by yourself through creative thinking, but two people would have made it much easier. I do wish the mounting bolts were just a little bit longer,. my bars are 15/8" Unistrut and the bolts were just barely long enough, I'd prefer about 5mm longer.
First setup and use. The ladder is designed for a true roof top set up. The ladder only locks into one position and that is fully extended. Fully extended at the bed height of my Chevy Colorado was not possible. I needed to drill two holes so the ladder would lock into the height I needed. At 360 pounds I was nervous to climb in at first. This thing is rock solid!!! Ventilation is good, even though at bed height you lose the use of the window near the cab. Rode out a thunder storm my first night out high and dry with my 6 month old Lab puppy. We both slept soundly.
Very happy with my purchase so far! Next we'll see how long it holds up.
I would recommend offroadtents to everyone! My order was placed, I changed my mind on an accessory and was promptly refunded for the part. My order was quick to deliver....no headaches....great customer service!
Great quality and easy install, low profile so it will still clear the garage even with a 3 inch lift on the 4Runner
The tent is amazing. Very easy to open and put away even with one person. Definitely better with two people though. You can have lots of fun driving the country and camping wherever you feel like stopping!
The tent is great and the shipping was fast. Everything went smoothly and I even received a phone call on when the tent would be arriving.
Great product, but it’s a hassle trying to close the tent.
Installed with the help of my girlfriend. Took a couple hours. Definitely watch the YouTube videos. Made it so much easier. The quality is outstanding. I’m a Colorado bow hunter and avid Mtn biker in the back country. Used it the first weekend at about 9200 ft in the Colorado mtns, with wind gusts up to 80 mph and blowing rain and stayed high and dry. Love the tent, the material and can’t wait for archery season in the mtns. I would definitely recommend this product.
This tent worked out incredibly! The fact that it comes with so many features at that price is pretty incredible! We've encountered rain and strong winds and it held up great! A few difficulties installing, the instructions are very generic and the bolts did't work with my tube bed rack (not their fault). Also, keep in mind if you want to use the annex properly, the vehicle has to be a little higher than most vehicles come stock. Other than those issues, this was great purchase! The team at Off Road Tents was extremely helpful, i would absolutely recommend anyone to purchase from here.
