What To Do Before Accepting Shipment?
If your order has shipped please note that the tracking number may not be active until it reaches a freight terminal. This could take 1 to 2 business days from the date of this email.
Please inspect your package for damage prior to signing for it.
Off Road Tents takes pride in its products and packaging. Every tent that we ship out is properly classified, packaged, marked and labeled. Also each package is in the proper condition for transportation according to applicable regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation and/or international agencies.
Once your order is signed for at the delivery point, the package becomes your property and thus, our liability ends as far as shipping damage is concerned. Help protect yourself from loss or damage, or an uncomfortably painful claims process by:
1. Before Signing for your order, inspect the box or boxes for freight loss or damage. Red flags are punctures or any sign of forklift damage.
2. If any of the product(s) appear to be damaged or crushed do not accept delivery. Refuse the shipment and it will be sent back for processing.
3. It is extremely important that you inspect the box and tent (in case the item purchased is a tent) for damage BEFORE you sign to receive the tent. Please take photos of the box on the pallet exactly as it arrives.
Please note, the driver will not help with damage inspection. IF you even suspect there could be damage to your item, please take pictures of the damage and REFUSE the delivery. That way the carrier will send it back to us and we'll process a new shipment.
4. Get a copy of the signed delivery receipt that shows the freight loss or damage notation, and send it to us: firstname.lastname@example.org
5. Contact Off Road Tents immediately at 1.844.200.3979
If you accept a damaged delivery, and/or there is freight loss and/or the damage is not noted at the time of delivery, Off Road Tents cannot be held liable for any replacement costs related to the shipment. Protect yourself from this by examining before you sign. Refusing delivery when damaged helps Off Road Tents win the case against the carrier, and replacing your item.
Off Road Tents is proud to partner with Route, the leader in package protection and tracking solutions. By selecting Route+ at checkout your order will be protected from damage, loss*, or theft.
In the unfortunate case that your order never comes or is broken upon arrival, you can easily file a claim with Route and receive a replacement or be fully reimbursed. We are excited to offer this service to you and we highly recommend you use Route+ package protection at checkout.
*Claims for packages marked "delivered" yet not received and where there is no evidence of “porch piracy” must be made 5 days after “delivery date” but no longer than 15 days to ensure it was not misdelivered or easily found around the premises." Can’t say enough ability off raid tents. Not only do they have inventory ready to ship that much bigger companies are quoting 12 week lead times on, they’ve responded to questions on weekends and even New Year’s Day.
Very highly recommended.
I’m not an affiliate and wasn’t provided any incentive to provide a review (I actually had to email them to ask how to leave positive feedback)
Very fast service
Owned if for 6 months used it about 40 nights so far it is a great size fits my family of 4 ..the mattress is ok if it's just a overnighter or if u are a light person I'm 195lb and after the second night usually move to my hammock but it's not horrible ..I had it on my 4door jeep rubicon but it just felt to heavy up there so I built a trailer for it . The tents waterproofing held up amazing in a few thunder heavy rain hail but it has a serious flaw in the design of the overhang that the annex attaches to.when it rains the water does not run off and pools up and collapses the overhang .I have tried several ways to adjust the fly and pull it tight nothing has worked well enough to warrant peace of mind in a rainstorm other the just checking it all the time. I have seen utube vids on guys making there own frame around the inside with pvc pipe but my whole reason for a roof top tent was for the ease of setup and I dont wanna have to put more things together..there are a few more issues but I think they probably pertain to most tents. If you take good care of it it's a good tent for the price I also have the annex but my jeep was to tall to use it with the bottom on it, and my trailer is too low so I prob wasted my money there lol...
I researched RTTs to the end of the internet, and landed on the Smittybilt being the best investment. I have a small family (wife, two young kids) and the size and quality of this tent are perfect for our overlanding trips. I've only had the tent out a handful of times, but so far, I'm really happy with it.The money I saved on the tent allowed me to buy a high quality roof rack, and an onboard air compressor (ARB single piston) I installed it on my 2013 Jeep Wrangler JKU via a Rhino Rack Backbone with Pioneer Platform. I do notice a bit more weight, but nothing that significantly affects off-road performance. After all of my research I couldn't justify spending 2X-3X on a tent, if my sleeping experience was not going to be 2X-3X better. The quality seems very good. The materials are fairly standard in terms of fabric, seams, zippers, etc. Mattress is a little slim, but that is a cheap/easy fix with egg crate or other sleeping mat. We bought the annex too. Can't say enough about how luxurious it is to have the annex. It's quite big, lots of space to dress. Could easily sleep two more people. Cover is really great - the velcro attachment is strong, keeps tent clean, and really easy to install/remove. Highly recommend this tent if you've never bought an RTT. Don't waste money on a super expensive tent - start with this tent - find out if you like the set up or not - then if you really feel like you need an upgrade, sell your Smittybilt (they will sell fast) and upgrade.
A great tent that rivals the more expensive tents. I have only used it a few times but look forward to many more nights in this.
Hey there will the xl tent fit on my 2004 Ford Explorer with manufacture rack?
If it has the cross bars, yes they could work but we definitely recommend aftermarket cross bars specially since it's the XL tent. Something like this: https://offroadtents.com/products/rhino-rack-vortex-sx-black-or-silver-2-bar-roof-rack?_pos=4&_sid=119a39e79&_ss=r&variant=18825495773241
Will the smittybuilt overlander xl fit on my jeep compass?
Absolutely, it will.
Make sure to have a rack for the tent. We sell this one which is a great and affordable choice: https://offroadtents.com/products/rhino-rack-heavy-duty-2500-black-or-silver-2-bar-roof-rack-for-jeep-compass-07-to-17?_pos=1&_sid=95b0b103c&_ss=r
Can I fit the Smittybilt's XL tent on my Suburban roof rack ? I red somewhere it is for trailer use only.
Yes you can definitely fit the Overlander XL to your Suburban roof rack, just keep in mind you need a pair of cross bars to mount the RTT. This and all roof top tents are made so that they work either on a car, trailer or any vehicle with the adequate cross bars. Hope this helps!
What rack is used to mount this to a Cherokee XJ?
Your best fit would be this one: https://offroadtents.com/products/front-runner-jeep-cherokee-sport-xj-slimline-ii-roof-rack-kit
How many seasons is this tent rated for?
Although we knoe of people that have used it during winter, it is not recommended. This is a 3 season tent.
I bought one of these and I'm building a rack for it on my prospecting vehicle 1975 Dodge w200 custom bobbed flat bed. The tent is still in the box and does it come with mounting instructions? I'm gonna build a custom rack for the flat bed a roll bar in the front and custom tube in the rear then several 1inch square rails in the middle..
Thank you for your time..
Hi,Yes it does come with mounting instructions, otherwise find them here: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2002/2095/files/Product_Manual_Installing_Instructions_For_Smittybilt_Overlander_Roof_Top_Tent.pdf?6915883418217353369
