Prinsu Roof Rack Review
Quality, strength and affordability are three ingredients that are hard to mix. Serve me that dish and I’ll tell you I’m tasting perfection. Or at least as close as you can get to it, because nothing is perfect, not even a strong, American made roof rack at an affordable price by Prinsu. But in the overlanding world, Prinsu racks are as close as you get to perfection.
USA made, directly in Idaho, from high quality air craft grade aluminum with 1000 lbs weight capacity, a modular design that allows you to add or remove slats to your benefit and advantage, a drill free installation (on most racks) and a Limited Lifetime Warranty. That’s a Prinsu roof rack in a nutshell.

Best Prinsu Roof Racks
As we explained before, we’re in for a ride looking at the best Prinsu roof racks available. For the sake of this guide, we are not reviewing each and every single rack or accessory they make, we’re just going over the most popular ones. However, if you want to read about a specific model not reviewed in the guide, just jump all the way to the products section (you can use the “Jump To Products” button) and click on the rack you need and you’ll get all the information you need right on the palm of your hand.
Prinsu Roof Rack 4Runner
First on the list is the 4Runner Prinsu roof rack. Now each of the generations of the 4Runner has a specific Prinsu rack that fits them and that includes the 3rd, 4th, and 5th gen 4Runner. Now, these roof rack kits are virtually the same except they have slight differences depending on the car model. However, we will talk about the rack itself as it has the same great features to offer.
This is in our humble opinion the best roof rack you can get for your 4Runner. It is lightweight, affordable, durable, and low profile, and it DOES NOT require drilling in order to install it. It is of high quality, built to last aluminum construction which is additionally black powder coated to prevent any scratches, and even erosion when driving around in muddy environments.
It is also a modular roof rack system meaning that you can adjust the number of crossbars you want to have on it. They are pretty easy to install and take off if you don’t need some of them, however, keep in mind that the more crossbars you have the bigger the weight load rating your rack will have. All the crossbars are constructed out of black anodized aluminum except for one that is not anodized.
They come with built-in drop-in points that allow for easier mounting of your cargo and it even offers numerous tie-down options that increase the security and stability of said cargo or some accessories. This Prinsu roof rack has a height of something more than 2” making it one of the lowest profile roof rack systems on the market right now.
Apart from the low height, it also comes with an aluminum wind deflector that increases the aerodynamics of your vehicle and reduces wind drag as well as the noise when driving. This is also a strong rack kit that can withstand more than 500lbs of weight capacity which is more than enough to carry something like kayaks, bikes, additional luggage or cargo, and even mount a roof top tent.
This no drill roof rack will certainly be a great addition for your next overlanding adventure so be sure to check it out!

Prinsu 34 Roof Rack 4Runner
This is yet another Prinsu roof rack for 4Runner except this one is shorter than the previously mentioned one. This is a ¾ roof rack and while it offers less space to load up your gear it does allow you to fully open your sunroof and does not block the sun at all, unlike the full-length 4Runner roof rack kits. It sits behind the sunroof opening and it extends all the way to the back of your 4Runner roof.
It is less expensive than the full-length one but it still comes with the same features. It doesn't need to be drilled in order to be installed and is lightweight, inexpensive, and robust. It is made of durable, high-quality aluminum that is also black powder coated to avoid scratches and even erosion when driving through muddy terrain.
They include built-in drop-in points that make it simpler to attach your cargo, and they also provide a variety of tie-down options that improve the stability and security of the aforementioned cargo or certain accessories. One of the lowest profile roof rack systems available at the moment, this Prinsu roof rack has a height of more than 2".
In addition to its low height, it also has an aluminum wind deflector that improves your car's aerodynamics and lessens wind drag and road noise. Also, this rack system is sturdy and can support more than 600 lbs of weight, which is more than enough to transport items like kayaks, bikes, extra luggage or goods, and even mount a roof top tent.
Also, because it is a modular roof rack system, you may choose how many crossbars you wish to have on it. The more crossbars you have, the higher the weight load rating your rack will have. They are rather simple to install and remove if you don't require some of them. With the exception of one, all of the crossbars are made of black anodized aluminum.
This Prinsu roof rack is also a bit lighter than the full-length one and that is because it uses less material to make. That means that it will put less additional weight on your off-road rig. This is another great 4Runner roof rack kit so feel free to check it out!

Tacoma Prinsu Rack
Now let’s take a look at yet another variation of the Prinsu roof rack. This is a roof rack that has been designed to fit the Toyota Tacoma models from 2005 up to the present. Since the Tacoma is a pickup truck this roof rack is shorter and cheaper. It it made to fit onto the cab of the Tacoma, so it is the same length as the roof of the vehicle. If you have a camper shell it will not go over it.
It is, however, made from the same materials as the racks mentioned before and offers the same features. It is lightweight, affordable, and sturdy, and installation doesn't require any drilling or modification. It is constructed of sturdy, premium aluminum that is also coated in black powder to prevent scratches and even erosion when driving over muddy terrain.
It is a low-profile roof rack that also includes an aluminum wind deflector to enhance the aerodynamics of your car and reduce wind drag and noise from the road. Also, this rack system is strong and capable of supporting more than 500 pounds of weight, which is more than enough to transport stuff like kayaks, bikes, additional luggage or gear, and even install a roof top tent.
They have built-in drop-in points that make attaching your cargo easier, and they also offer a range of tie-down options that increase the stability and security of the mentioned cargo or a variety of accessories. This Prinsu roof rack, which is currently one of the lowest profile roof rack systems available, comes at a height of just above 2".
You may also decide how many crossbars you want on it because it is a modular roof rack system. Your rack's weight load rating will be higher the more crossbars it has. If you don't need some of them, installing and removing them is rather easy. The crossbars are all constructed of black anodized aluminum, except for one crossbar.
Due to the fact that less material was used in the construction of this Prinsu roof rack, it is also slightly lighter than the full-length model. This implies that it won't add much extra weight to your off-road vehicle. Be sure to check out this excellent Toyota Tacoma roof rack kit!

Rav4 Prinsu Rack
This is yet another full-length Prinsu roof rack that was made specifically to fit the Toyota Rav4 models from 2019 up to the current one. This is a very affordable roof rack even more so than the one made for 4Runners as the 4Runner has a longer car body and uses more materials than this one. It does also have a slightly lower load rating but apart from that it shares all the same features as the aforementioned Prinsu roof rack kits.
It is constructed with the same components as all other Prinsu roof racks, making it lightweight, cheap, and most importantly durable. Installation doesn't require any drilling or other modifications. It does also have a black powder coat finish for increased resilience and durability, especially when driving on off-road terrain. That powder coat also prevents the rack from eroding in muddy environments.
It is a low-profile roof rack that also comes with an aluminum wind deflector to improve your car's aerodynamics and lessen wind drag and road noise. Also, this rack system is sturdy and has a weight capacity of more than 500 pounds, which is more than enough to carry items like kayaks, motorcycles, extra luggage or gear, and even gives you the ability to install a roof top tent.
It is a modular roof rack system, so you may choose how many crossbars you want on it as well. The more crossbars your rack has, the higher its weight load rating is. Installing and uninstalling them is simple if you don't want some of them. Apart from one crossbar, the crossbars are entirely made of black anodized aluminum.
They include built-in tie-down points that improve the stability and security of the mentioned cargo or a variety of accessories, as well as built-in drop-in points that make attaching your cargo simpler. The height of this Prinsu roof rack is just above 2" making it one of the lowest profile roof rack kits on the market right now.
This is one of the best Rav4 roof rack kits out there and it will be a great addition to your next overlanding adventure. Feel free to check it out!

Prinsu Roof Rack GX460
Let’s take a look at the Prinsu roof rack that was made specifically to fit the Lexus GX460 from 2010 up to the current model. This is a full-length no drill roof rack. All Prinsu roof rack systems share their amazing features and production quality and this one is no different. It also works with the vehicle's sunroof although if you do have all the crossbars mounted it may block the sun a bit.
But let’s look at those said features and what this Prinsu rack has to offer. It is made from the same materials as all other Prinsu roof racks, which makes it lightweight, affordable, and—most importantly durable. No drilling or other alterations are needed for installation. In order to boost resilience and durability, particularly when driving on off-road terrain, it also has a black powder coat finish. The rack's powder finish also protects it from degrading in muddy conditions.
They feature built-in drop-in points that allow attaching your cargo easier as well as tie-down points that increase the stability and security of the aforementioned cargo or a number of accessories. This Prinsu roof rack is one of the lowest profile roof rack kits available on the market right now with a height of just over 2".
You can select how many crossbars you want on the roof rack system because it is modular. The weight load rating of your rack increases with the number of crossbars it has. If you don't want some of them, installing and removing them is easy. The crossbars are composed entirely of black anodized aluminum, with the exception of one crossbar.
It is a low-profile roof rack that also includes an aluminum wind deflector to increase the aerodynamics of your vehicle, reduce wind drag, and reduce the noise it makes while driving. A roof top tent can even be installed thanks to the solid construction and weight capacity of over 600lbs of this rack system, which is more than enough to transport objects like kayaks, motorcycles, extra luggage, or supplies.
This is yet another great Prinsu roof rack that will allow you to take full advantage of your vehicle so be sure to check it out!

Prinsu Tundra Rack
The Toyota Tundra is the Tacoma’s older brother, a stronger, bigger and more powerful truck. That requires a strong, powerful rack to match this truck’s energy. Fortunately, the Prinsu cab rack for the Tundra Crewmax from 2022 onwards matches that energy. Made in USA from heavy duty aluminum it has a 1000 lbs load rating, just enough to carry over it anything you can imagine and you will ever need.
It's modular, which means you can add or remove slats (crossbars) at your convenience. On top of that, each slat has multiple drop points on all 4 faces of the slat for a better user experience and mounting capabilities. You can literally tie straps or mount gear by attaching it to any of the t-slot channels on all four faces of the slat. As easy as it gets.
What about installing this Tundra rack? Well, due to the nature of the Tundra’s roof, you will be required to drill to install it. This means that installation will take slightly longer than usual, and will require you to use power tools. However, the included instruction manual is thorough and easy to understand, and you shouldn’t have much trouble installing it.
The upside of this is that hence to the drilling, the rack will be much sturdier and even safer as it will sit tight over your cab. Oh, even if you have a panoramic roof, it works just fine. And if you choose to remove a few slats right above the sunroof, well, you can have a full view of the clear blue sky as you drive.

Prinsu Roof Rack Outback
Prinsu makes roof racks for the Subaru Outback ranging from the 4th to the 6th Gen, so you should be able to pick the one you need. Now let’s take a look at what they all offer: these platform racks are made of eight powder coated black aluminum 1” x 2” crossbars, which are 44” wide and are bolted onto extruded aluminum side rails with stainless steel bolts and hardware. Needless to say, the rack has a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
As to what makes this Outback roof rack special, well it so happens that each crossbar has t-slot channels on all 4 sides, making it extremely easy for you to tie straps or gear to them. On top of that, given the modular nature of Prinsu racks, you can easily remove or add slats from the side plates for your convenience. With more slats, the weight capacity increases, with less slats it’s reduced. As to the sunroof, well that’s optional. If you remove the slats right above it, you can fully open it, with the slats over it, you won’t be able to.
What about the dimensions? Well, the roof rack has a length of 80.25”, adds a total height of 2.18” to the roof of your Outback, keeping it as low profile as you can. As to the weight capacity, we mentioned it’s 1000 lbs, which is enough for any roof top tent, but make sure the tent you carry fits over the rack. Finally, remember you can choose the wind deflector to have a cutout for an LED light bar.

Prinsu Roof Rack Crosstrek
This is the last Prinsu rack on our list and it was made to fit the Subaru Crosstrek models from 2018 up to the current one. Since Subaru is a smaller vehicle than the previously mentioned one the rack is also shorter to fit the roof. That means it is also cheaper than the rest of the Prinsu roof rack models mentioned.
It does, however, offer the same features. It is constructed using the same components as all previous Prinsu roof racks, making it lightweight, inexpensive, and—most importantly—durable. Installation doesn't require any drilling or other changes. It also includes a black powder coat finish to increase robustness and durability, especially when driving on off-road terrain. The powder coating on the rack guards against deterioration in muddy circumstances.
This Prinsu roof rack also features built-in tie-down points that improve the stability and security of the aforementioned cargo or various accessories, as well as drop-in points that make it simpler to attach your cargo. At a height of a little over 2", this Prinsu roof rack is one of the lowest profile roof rack kits currently available for purchase.
The roof rack system is modular, allowing you to choose the number of crossbars you want or need. Your rack's capacity to support a certain amount of weight rises as the number of crossbars it has. Installing and removing some of them is simple if you decide you don't want them. Apart from one crossbar, all of the crossbars are made of black anodized metal.
It is a low-profile roof rack that also has an aluminum wind deflector to improve your car's aerodynamics, lessen wind drag, and reduces noise when driving. This is a very sturdy and strong roof rack that allows you to mount almost anything you wish thanks to the 600lbs weight load rating. That means that you can mount kayaks, bikes, extra luggage or camping gear, various accessories, and even a roof top tent.
Considering that the Subaru Crosstrek is a relatively small vehicle, this Prinsu roof rack lets you take full advantage of it and load it up with items you otherwise wouldn’t be able to carry. With that said feel free to check it out!

Made out of 2 laser cut side aluminum side plates each 3/16” thick, with 1” x 2” aluminum slats (or crossbars) running from side to side, this Chevy Colorado cab rack is a beauty and a beast. Yes, it does. Even if you have all the crossbars mounted onto your Prinsu roof rack you will still be able to open and use your sunroof. However, those crossbars may block some of the sunlight. If you don’t want that to happen, you can simply remove some of the crossbars and that should fix it.
Are CBI Prinsu the same thing?
No they are not the same thing. Although, CBI and Prinsu are both owned by the same group, they are different and separate brands, which make different products. A Prinsu roof rack can be paired just fine with a CBI bed rack.
What is better: Prinsu vs Frontrunner?
This is a very personal choice. Prinsu roof racks are slightly different to Front Runner roof racks. Prinsu roof racks are made in USA, have a lower profile and are made fully of aluminum (except for the hardware). Front Runner racks are made in South Africa, can be either higher profiled (with tie down options even under the rack), or lower profiled, and are made with some stainless-steel components, therefore slightly heavier. Which one is better is hard to decide, so we leave that up to you and your vehicle’s needs.
Prinsu vs Sherpa
Both have an extremely similar design, both are made in USA, and both are excellent companies. The main difference comes down to a few things: Prinsu roof racks have a more affordable price point, but Sherpa roof racks have a thicker aluminum side plate.
Both are perfect for overlanding, but the choice in the material thickness comes down to your own personal preference.
