This is the three quarter Grenadier roof rack from Dometic Front Runner, purpose-built rather than adapted from a universal mount.
This Ineos Grenadier roof rack measures 76.2 inches long by 61.4 inches wide and the mounting system is height adjustable: 2.4 inches in the low position or 3.5 inches in the high. Either way it is 20% lower than the Slimline II, cutting drag, wind noise and fuel consumption. Slats move individually without dismantling the rack, dual T-slot channels take accessories at multiple pitches, and all four corners carry integrated tie-down points. Wiring for lights routes through concealed channels in the side profiles. Heat-treated aluminium and high-strength 3CR12 stainless steel, black powder coated, with stainless fasteners. Choose three quarter if you want a working platform that keeps nearly 25 lbs off the roof and leaves the rear of the vehicle alone.
Choose the full-length version if you want a tent and an awning and boards and cargo all laid out at once, or you carry long loads that need support along their length.
Safari Windows: Worth a Quick Call
Dometic notes that the safari windows cannot fully open with the full-length Grenadier rack installed. They do not list that limitation for this three quarter version, which stops short of the rear. Two Mounting Heights, One Rack
The Grenadier kits are the only Slimline 3 racks with a height-adjustable mounting system, so you choose where the platform sits.
Low: 2.4 Inches
The cleanest profile, least wind noise, and the best overhead clearance. Most people choose this.
High: 3.5 Inches
Buys clearance underneath the tray, which helps if you are routing accessory hardware or want air space above the roof.
Changeable Later
You decide at install, and it is not permanent. If the build changes, the height can change with it.
Move Slats Without Dismantling Anything
On the Slimline 3 you can add, remove, or shift individual slats without taking the rack apart. Fitting a new accessory no longer means pulling the tray down and rebuilding it around the mount. Slide the slats to where the gear needs them and carry on, which saves an afternoon every time the build changes.
Full Width, Shorter Length
Worth noticing: the three quarter kit is exactly as wide as the full-length version at 61.4 inches. Only the length changes.
That matters more than it sounds. 61.4 inches is wider than most platform racks on the market, so a rooftop tent, an awning and a set of boards can sit side by side rather than end to end. On 76.2 inches of length you still have room to lay out a tent and keep the front section free. You are giving up the rear overhang, not the usable area.
Lower, Quieter, Cheaper to Run
The Slimline 3 tray is 20% lower than the Slimline II in either mounting position.
Less Drag
A lower platform presents less frontal area, which shows up in fuel consumption on a vehicle that is not aerodynamic to begin with.
Less Wind Noise
The most common complaint about any platform rack, and the low mounting position is the most effective fix.
Better Clearance
A Grenadier is already tall. Choosing the low position buys back over an inch against the high.
