Subaru Outback, Forester, Crosstrek, Ascent & Tribeca Roof Racks & Crossbars

Subarus have quickly become some of the preferred vehicles for off road and overlanding purposes. Simple: they are safe, they are strong, reliable and much more powerful than one can imagine. Add to that quality and a smart design, and they tick all the boxes.

A Subaru is a great rig to modify too. The looks and design make it an attractive vehicle that looks great in the city, and off-road in the mud. It can be easily upgraded with aftermarket accessories, and it looks even better.

At Off Road Tents we offer the best after-market roof racks and crossbars for the preferred Subaru rigs in the market. We have cargo carrying racks for Subaru Ascent, Outback, Crosstrek, Crosstrek XV, Forester and Tribeca.

We also have them for the Forester 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen, for the Outback 3rd, 4th and 5th Gen, and for the Crosstrek 1st Gen.

As to the brands that we offer for your Subaru we have: Front Runner Outfitters, Rhino-Rack, Prinsu and Thule.

There are different type of cargo carrying racks you can add to your car. The most common ones are cross-bars, which are built to carry lighter loads or weight, such as fishing rods, boards, hunting gear or other accessories. They can though, carry roof top tents if their loading capacity is of 165 lbs or more.

Sometimes, there are crossbars ideal for your Subaru, which have a dynamic weight capacity (DWC) of 165 lbs or even 200 lbs or more. The DWC is when the vehicle is in motion. That then translates to over 500 lbs of load rating when the car is parked.

If you plan to go off-road often, overlanding, or camping in tougher trails or roads, you want a true off road rack. In that case we recommend a full platform rack. Those will normally have a DWC of over 220 lbs, meaning when the car is parked they can carry 500 lbs or more guaranteed.

They are ideal to handle heavier loads such as roof top tents, recovery gear, water tanks or a lot of stuff on them.

Think properly about what you'll be really using your Subaru for, whether that's overlanding or just carrying some gear now and then. That's what should help you decide upon what rack system to use.
