Backwoods Adventure Mods extra aluminum shelf installed inside overland storage box

One More Level of Organization.

Backwoods Extra Shelf for Storage Box. 1/8" aluminum. Powder coated. Hardware included.

Your Backwoods storage box already comes with shelving. This is the one you add when your gear does not divide neatly into the levels you have. A recovery kit, a camp kitchen, and a tool roll all want their own space, and stacking two of them on one shelf means moving the top one every time you need the bottom one.

The extra shelf is the same 1/8 inch aluminum construction as the box itself, powder coated to match, and it mounts to the same adjustable interior rails. Set the height wherever your gear actually needs it. Installation hardware is included. It is a small purchase that changes how usable the box is on a daily basis.

Fits Backwoods Boxes Only

Backwoods states this shelf fits their mid size Bed Rack Box and their universal Overland Storage Box. It is not a universal shelf and will not fit other manufacturers' storage boxes or tool boxes.

Before ordering, call us at 844-200-3979 with which Backwoods box you own and we will confirm this shelf fits it. Worth thirty seconds to avoid returning a part that does not drop in.

When an Extra Shelf Earns Its Place

You carry three or more gear categories. Recovery gear, camp kitchen, and tools all want separate homes. Two levels means one of them shares, and sharing means digging.

Your gear is mostly small. Tall shelf gaps waste vertical space when everything you carry is pouches, tools, and boxed items. Splitting a tall section into two shorter ones recovers that space.

You want a dedicated recovery level. Straps, shackles, and gloves in one place, reachable without unloading anything above them. When you need recovery gear, you usually need it quickly and often in bad conditions.

You run the box year round. Summer camp kitchen, winter recovery and traction gear, tools always. More levels means the layout changes with the season instead of being rebuilt every time.

Adjustable Means Adjustable

The shelf height is set by mounts inside the box rather than being fixed at manufacture. That means you can move it later when your gear changes, and it also means adding a shelf lets you re-space the ones already in there. You are not just adding a level, you are re-dividing the whole interior.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Backwoods boxes does this fit?

Backwoods specifies their mid size Bed Rack Box and their universal Overland Storage Box. It is not a universal shelf and will not fit other manufacturers' boxes. Because Backwoods offers several box configurations across different vehicles, call us at 844-200-3979 with the exact box you own and we will confirm fitment before you order.

Doesn't my box already come with a shelf?

Yes. Backwoods storage boxes ship with shelving already installed. This is an extra, for setups where the standard configuration does not divide your gear the way you need. If you carry three or more distinct gear categories, or if most of what you carry is small and the existing shelf gaps waste vertical space, an additional level is worth it.

Can I set the height wherever I want?

Yes. Shelf height is set by mounts inside the box rather than fixed at manufacture, so you position it where your gear needs it and move it later when your setup changes. Adding a shelf also lets you re-space the ones already installed, so you are effectively re-dividing the whole interior rather than just adding one level.

Does it come with hardware?

Yes. Installation hardware is included, and the shelf arrives powder coated to match your box. There is nothing else to source. It mounts to the same interior rail system the existing shelving uses.

How many can I add?

Shelves are sold individually, so order the quantity your setup calls for. Practical limits depend on your box model and how tall your gear is, since every shelf you add reduces the clearance in the sections around it. If you are outfitting more than one box, order one per box you plan to add a level to.
