This Topper is an add-on. It mounts on top of the Backwoods Adventure Mods Toyota Tacoma DRIFTR Bed Rack (2005-2026), which is sold separately and required for the Topper to work. The Topper cannot be used standalone.
The Backwoods Adventure Mods DRIFTR Topper essentially adds an entire roof rack on top of your truck's bed rack. If you need additional height to clear the cab of your Tacoma because of a longer, wedge-style rooftop tent, this is how you achieve that. Without the Topper, the DRIFTR Bed Rack is flush or nearly flush with the cab. With the Topper installed, your tent platform rises above the cab roofline, giving wedge-style and larger clamshell tents the clearance they need to open fully without hitting the cab.
When paired with the Backwoods DRIFTR Roof Rack on the cab, you get a super solid, even level deck from the front of your truck to the back. The Topper features 0.25" thick aluminum side rails, 6 triple slotted extrusions for mounting gear, side rail handle cutouts (also compatible with Agency 6 Handles), and a free powder coat finish. Clears the Cab for Wedge-Style Tents
The primary purpose of the DRIFTR Topper is raising your tent platform above the cab roofline. Without it, the DRIFTR Bed Rack sits flush with the cab. Wedge-style (clamshell) rooftop tents that hinge from the rear need clearance above the cab to open fully. The Topper provides that clearance. It also gives you a level mounting surface that sits higher than the cab, which is ideal for longer tents that overhang the bed rack toward the cab. If you run a compact hardshell tent that does not need cab clearance, you may not need the Topper at all.

The Topper is built with the same materials and construction quality as the DRIFTR Bed Rack itself. Super strong 0.25" thick aluminum side rails with handle cutouts make it easy to grab and adjust. The handle cutouts are also compatible with Agency 6 Handles (not sold through us) for an upgraded grip. Six triple slotted extrusions provide the mounting surface for rooftop tents, gear, and accessories. The free powder coat finish matches the bed rack below for a clean, cohesive look. This is a DRIFTR roof rack that happens to sit on top of a bed rack instead of on a vehicle's cab.
