The K9 system consists of a fully welded aluminum platform with track mount feet and all required hardware. One person can install it in approximately one hour. How the Track Mount System Works
The base of each track mount foot has two 8mm slotted holes for attaching to your Thule or Yakima track. Since Thule and Yakima use 6mm threaded plates in their track, Eezi-Awn supplies 6mm stainless button head cap screws with unique insulating spacers that correctly fill the void between screw and slot. The insulating spacers prevent metal-on-metal contact that could cause corrosion or galvanic reaction. What you end up with is one of the most robust rack solutions you can build on top of existing Thule or Yakima track. The platform sits on the feet, and the feet lock into the track. Solid, secure, and purpose-engineered.
Fully Welded K9 Platform
The K9 platform is not bolted together. It is fully welded aluminum, which means no joints to loosen, no fasteners to check, and no flex under heavy loads. The fully welded construction is what allows Eezi-Awn to rate the K9 for approximately 500 lbs dynamic and 1,000 lbs static capacity on vehicles with properly modified suspensions.
