Self-Deploying. 30 Seconds. Blackout Shade with LED.
OVS XD Nomadic 90 Degree Awning. Gas strut deployment. 5000 PU waterproof. White and amber LED with dimmer. Two sizes.
The OVS XD Nomadic Self-Deploying 90 Degree Awning pushes past the industry-standard manual awnings that take minutes to set up. This one deploys in about 30 seconds and stows just as fast. Nitrogen gas-charged open-assist struts do the work for you. Unlatch, swing the arm out, and the strut opens the canopy. Built for both daytime and nighttime use: the blackout undercoat blocks heat and light for premium shade during the day, and the integrated LED lighting kit (white and amber with dimmer control) illuminates your camp at night.
Available in two sizes: 6.5 foot and 8.0 foot. Both feature premium 320G ripstop polycotton Oxford fabric with a 5000 PU waterproof rating, rivet-free truss design with 2-stage black powder-coated boxed aluminum arms, twist-and-lock telescoping poles with a central expansion pole, and an 840D polyester travel cover. Ground stakes, guy lines, and all mounting hardware included. Select your size using the variant selector above. Backed by a limited lifetime structural warranty and a 6-year fabric warranty.
320G Ripstop + Blackout Coat
Premium 320G ripstop polycotton Oxford fabric with a 5000 PU waterproof rating and FMVSS 302 certification. The blackout undercoating blocks significantly more heat and light than standard awning fabrics, creating noticeably cooler, darker shade underneath.
Gas Strut Self-Deployment
Nitrogen gas-charged open-assist struts deploy the awning for you. Unlatch, swing the arm, and the strut pushes the canopy open in about 30 seconds. No manual cranking, no unrolling fabric. Stowing is just as fast: pull the canopy closed and latch it.
Integrated LED with Dimmer
Built-in LED lighting kit provides white or amber light with a dimmer control and LOR wiring harness. Illuminate your camp at night without buying a separate light strip. Switch between white for task lighting and amber for a warmer, insect-reducing glow.
Twist and Lock Poles
Aluminum telescoping poles with rubber channel grip adjust to your desired height with a twist-and-lock mechanism. A central expansion pole provides additional support for the canopy in windy conditions or when you want maximum tension on the fabric.
Rivet-Free Truss Design
The 2-stage black powder-coated boxed aluminum arms use a rivet-free truss design. No rivets means no shearing under repeated stress. The truss structure distributes load evenly and handles the repetitive stress of daily deployment without loosening.
5000 PU Waterproof
The 5000 PU waterproof rating is significantly higher than the 2000-3000 PU on most competing awnings. Heat sealed seams and premium polycotton construction keep water out during heavy rain. The 840D polyester travel cover protects the awning during transit.

More Features
Heavy-Duty Velcro Strap Wrap: Secures the awning arms during transit. The velcro straps keep everything tight against the rack so nothing rattles or swings while driving.
840D Polyester Travel Cover: Protects the awning fabric from dust, moisture, and road debris during transit. The heavy-duty polyester construction handles years of use.
Ground Stakes, Guy Lines, and Hardware: Everything you need to stake the awning down in windy conditions is included in the box. No extra purchases needed for a complete setup.
Universal Fitment: Fits any vehicle with a factory or aftermarket roof rack. Confirm your rack's weight capacity can support the awning weight plus wind load before installing.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the self-deploying mechanism work?
Nitrogen gas-charged open-assist struts are built into the awning arms. Unlatch the travel cover, swing the arm out, and the strut pushes the canopy open automatically. The entire process takes about 30 seconds. To stow, pull the canopy back against the arm, fold the arm in, and latch the travel cover. No manual cranking, no unrolling, no wrestling with fabric.
What is the blackout undercoat?
The blackout undercoating is applied to the underside of the 320G polycotton fabric. It blocks heat and light from penetrating through the canopy, creating shade that is noticeably darker and cooler than standard awning fabrics. Without a blackout coating, sunlight passes through the fabric and heats the air underneath. The blackout layer prevents that, giving you premium shade all day long.
Which size should I choose: 6.5' or 8.0'?
Choose the 6.5' if you have a mid-size vehicle or want a more compact, lighter awning (46.5 lbs, 86" closed). Choose the 8.0' if you have a full-size truck or SUV and want a larger coverage area (54.3 lbs, 102" closed). Both share the same construction, fabric, LED lighting, and self-deploying mechanism. The difference is purely coverage area and weight. Confirm your rack has enough rail length for the closed dimensions of whichever size you choose.
How does the LED lighting work?
The integrated LED lighting kit provides white or amber light with a dimmer control. It connects via the included LOR wiring harness. Use white light for task lighting (cooking, organizing gear) and amber light for a warmer, insect-reducing glow during evenings. The dimmer lets you dial the brightness from full brightness down to a soft ambient level. The LEDs are built into the awning, not an aftermarket add-on.
90 degree vs 270 degree vs 315 degree: what is the difference?
A 90-degree awning extends straight out from one side of your vehicle, providing shade along that side only. A 270-degree awning wraps along one side and across the rear. A 315-degree awning wraps even further. Choose 90 degrees for simple, fast shade on one side. Choose 270 or 315 degrees for wraparound coverage that shelters more of your camp area. The 90-degree deploys significantly faster (30 seconds with gas struts) and is simpler to operate than multi-arm wraparound awnings.
