Let's begin by stating that these RCI engine skid plates are made of 3/16" CNC cut steel, which is highly solid, resilient, and can handle just about any terrain. In order to stop erosion, they also have a black powder coat finish.
In addition to steel structure, you can also select 1/4" laser-cut aluminum construction, which can be finished with either a black powder coat or just the raw metal. Although GX470 aluminum skid plates are lighter than steel ones, your car will still be protected to the same extent by them.
