Five Heights. One Santa Cruz. Zero Drilling.
BillieBars Bed Rack for the Hyundai Santa Cruz factory T-slot cover. Anodized aluminum. Made in the USA. Lifetime Warranty.
Fitment: Factory T-Slot Cover Required
This bed rack is designed only for the 2022 and newer Hyundai Santa Cruz equipped with the factory retractable cover that has integrated T-slots. The brackets clamp into those T-slots, so the cover is the mounting structure. If your Santa Cruz has no cover, a soft cover, or a cover without T-slots, this rack will not mount. The cover is not included. Call us at 844-200-3979 if you are unsure what cover you have.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz has a short bed and a factory retractable cover that most bed racks simply cannot work with. BillieBars built this one specifically around that cover. The brackets clamp directly into the integrated T-slots running the length of the bed rail, which means no drilling, no permanent modification, and no giving up the cover you already paid for. You keep the secure, weather-sealed storage underneath and gain a full mounting platform above it.
The kit ships with two high-strength anodized aluminum crossbars measuring 3.15" x 1.57", plus dual-stage powder-coated high-strength steel brackets with a zinc base and all required hardware. Anodized aluminum will not rust even if you scratch it, which matters on a rack that lives outside year round. It installs in about 30 minutes by one person. Available in five heights from a 6" low profile up to a 24" tall configuration, including a 20" option sized to match the factory roof rack line. Made in the USA and backed by a Lifetime Warranty.
Choose Your Height
This is the decision that matters most on this page. All five heights use identical brackets, crossbars, and hardware. The only difference is how far the bars sit above the cover, and that changes what you can carry and how the truck looks.
Which One Fits Your Build?
6" Low Profile: The cleanest look. Bars sit just above the cover, keeping your overall vehicle height close to stock for garage and parking structure clearance. Best for hauling flat cargo, lumber, kayaks, or gear you want strapped down low. Not enough clearance for a rooftop tent to open properly over the cab.
11" Short: A middle ground that adds usable space under the bars without much visual bulk. Good for carrying gear both on top and underneath, and for bikes mounted upright.
17" Mid: Where most rooftop tent builds land. Enough height to clear the cab line so a wedge or clamshell tent can open without hitting the roof, while staying shorter than the tall option.
20" Match Factory Roof Rack: Sized to line up with the Santa Cruz factory roof rack rails. If you run gear on both the roof and the bed, this gives you a level, continuous plane across the vehicle and the most finished look of the five.
24" Tall: Maximum clearance and maximum space underneath. Best for larger rooftop tents, tall cargo boxes, or builds where you want to store bulky gear under the rack while the tent lives on top. If you are running a big clamshell tent or want a genuine covered storage area between the cover and the bars, this is the one.
Not sure? The two questions that decide it: are you mounting a rooftop tent, and does the vehicle need to fit in a garage? Tent plus garage usually means 17". Tent with no clearance limit usually means 20" or 24". No tent means 6" or 11". Call us at 844-200-3979 with your tent model and we will confirm before you order.
Built to Carry a Rooftop Tent
The Santa Cruz is a compact truck, which normally rules it out of rooftop tent builds. This rack changes that. Mount a tent up top and you still have the full weather-sealed bed underneath, sealed by the factory cover, for the gear you do not want exposed. Beyond tents, the crossbars accept bikes, kayaks, ski and snowboard carriers, cargo baskets, containers, MOLLE side panels, and awning mounts. The bars also come off quickly with a hand tool or power drill when you need open bed access.
About Load Ratings
BillieBars does not publish a static or dynamic load rating for their T-slot cover racks, and there is a good reason for that. The rack mounts to your tonneau cover, not to the truck bed, so the cover is the weakest link in the load path. BillieBars states that their bed racks are stronger than the cover itself, which means your real limit is whatever your cover manufacturer specifies, not the rack.
Check your Hyundai documentation for the factory cover's rated capacity before loading a rooftop tent plus occupants. For reference, BillieBars rates their bed-mounted 5" and 8" racks at 400 lbs dynamic and 800 lbs static, but those numbers do not transfer to this cover-mounted design. If you are planning a heavy build, call us and we will help you work through the math.

What's Included
Not included: The tonneau cover. This rack requires the factory Hyundai retractable cover with T-slots, which must already be on your truck.
Pros
- Five height options from 6" low profile to 24" tall, including a 20" that matches the factory roof rack line
- No drilling. Brackets clamp into the factory cover's existing T-slots
- Keeps your factory retractable cover, so bed storage stays secure and weather-sealed
- Anodized aluminum crossbars will not rust even when scratched
- Crossbars remove quickly with a hand tool or power drill for full bed access
- One person install in roughly 30 minutes
- Makes a rooftop tent build possible on a compact truck
- Made in the USA with a Lifetime Warranty and free shipping to the lower 48
Cons
- Requires the factory retractable cover with T-slots. It will not mount to a bare bed, a soft cover, or a cover without T-slots
- No published load rating. Your ceiling is set by the cover manufacturer's spec, which requires you to look it up before loading a tent
- Height is fixed by the bracket set you order. Changing height later means new brackets, not an adjustment
- Ships with two crossbars. Some tent and cargo setups benefit from a third, sold separately
Frequently Asked Questions
Which height should I choose?
It comes down to two questions: are you mounting a rooftop tent, and do you need to fit in a garage? If you want a tent and have height limits, 17" Mid is usually the answer. If you want a tent with no clearance restrictions, 20" or 24" gives more room and better proportions. If you are hauling cargo, kayaks, or bikes without a tent, 6" Low Profile or 11" Short keeps the truck looking clean. The 20" option is specifically sized to line up with the Santa Cruz factory roof rack rails.
Does this work without a tonneau cover?
No. This particular rack mounts by clamping into the T-slots built into the factory Hyundai retractable cover. Without that cover there is nothing to mount to. The cover is not included and must already be installed on your truck. If your Santa Cruz does not have the factory T-slot cover, call us at 844-200-3979 and we will look at other options for your build.
How much weight can it carry?
BillieBars does not publish a load rating for their T-slot cover racks because the rack is stronger than the cover it mounts to. That makes the cover the limiting factor, so your capacity is whatever your cover manufacturer specifies. Check your Hyundai documentation before loading a rooftop tent with occupants. For context, BillieBars rates their bed-mounted 5" and 8" racks at 400 lbs dynamic and 800 lbs static, but those figures apply to a different mounting method and do not carry over here.
Can I still use my bed?
Yes, and this is one of the better features of the design. Your factory retractable cover keeps working normally underneath the rack, so bed storage stays locked and dry. When you need full open bed access for something tall, the crossbars come off quickly with a hand tool or a power drill. The brackets stay in place, so reinstalling takes a minute.
What can I mount to it?
Rooftop tents, bikes, kayaks, ski and snowboard carriers, cargo baskets, storage containers, MOLLE side panels, awning mounts, antenna mounts, and traction board mounts. BillieBars makes a full accessory line that bolts directly to the crossbars, and the bars also accept most universal rack accessories. Browse our full BillieBars lineup for compatible add-ons.
