The Sherpa JLU QDHD Half Rack is designed for Jeep Wrangler JLU owners (2018-2026) who want serious cargo capacity without giving up instant open-air freedom. Unlike the full-length QDHD rack that covers the entire roof, the Half Rack sits further back on the hard top. This allows you to pop your Freedom Panels off in seconds and snap them back on just as fast without ever touching, adjusting, or removing your roof rack. The rack mounts directly through the factory hard top into the roll cage, providing a rock-solid 500 lb dynamic and 1,200 lb static load rating. Yes. That is the primary advantage of the Half Rack over the Full Rack. The Half Rack sits further back on the hard top, behind the Freedom Panels. Pop the panels off in seconds and snap them back on without ever touching, adjusting, or removing the rack. You get cargo utility and topless driving without compromise.
Can I still remove the hard top entirely?
Yes. Remove the rack with the QDHD quick-detach knobs (no tools, minutes), then remove the hard top as normal. When you are ready, reinstall the top and pop the rack back on. The rack mounts to the roll cage through the hard top, so the top can come on and off as usual.
Can I mount a rooftop tent on the Half Rack?
Yes. With 500 lbs of dynamic load capacity and 1,200 lbs of static capacity, the Half Rack handles any rooftop tent plus occupants and gear. The roll cage mounting provides a significantly stronger foundation than roof-skin-mounted racks. The 59.5" x 56.5" footprint accommodates most hardshell and wedge-style tents.
