Two Things to Check Before Ordering
- This is a camper rack, not a cab rack. It mounts in the bed, in front of a GFC Camper on a Ranger SuperCrew. For a rack on the cab roof, you want the Sherpa Redcloud.
- Drilling and rivet installation required. Professional installation recommended.
A bed camper solves your sleeping problem and creates a storage one. Everything that used to live in the bed now lives inside the camper with you, and the gap between the cab and the camper front sits empty doing nothing except catching air at highway speed.
The Sherpa Stratus fills that gap. It is a truck camper roof rack that mounts in front of your GFC Camper on a 2019-2025 Ranger SuperCrew, giving you 23 inches of usable platform where there was dead space. It carries 200 lbs dynamic and 500 lbs static across 3 crossbars, weighs about 30 lbs, and doubles as a wind fairing for the camper behind it. Manufactured in Colorado. Lifetime Warranty.
Storage and a Wind Fairing
Most racks do one job. This one does two, and the second is the part people do not expect.
Reclaimed Space
Twenty-three inches of platform in the gap between cab and camper, which was previously doing nothing at all.
Wind Fairing
The fairing smooths air over the front face of the camper instead of letting it slam straight into a flat wall.
Gear Stays Outside
Solar panels, traction boards and fuel cans live out here rather than taking up room inside the camper with you.
The three things people most commonly put on it: a solar panel, which wants a flat forward-facing spot and is awkward anywhere else on a camper build; traction boards, which are filthy and belong outside; and general overflow storage in a box or a bag.
One Size, One Fit
There is no size to choose here. The Stratus is built at 23 inches deep to fit a GFC Camper on a Ranger SuperCrew, and that is the configuration it is made for.
That is worth being clear about, because Sherpa's other truck camper roof rack sizes come in multiple depths for different campers. This one does not. If you are running a different camper on your Ranger, or a GFC on a different truck, call us at 844-200-3979 before ordering and we will work out which rack actually fits.
PEAK Series
Sherpa's flagship rack line, built around the strongest aluminum mounting structure on the market. A direct load path, 1/4" aircraft-grade aluminum side plates, and rubber seals protecting the vehicle. The Stratus uses the same mounting architecture as the full-size PEAK cab racks, scaled to a camper application.
Crafted
Manufactured in Colorado from 1/4" aircraft-grade aluminum, CNC machined and finished by Sherpa's own team. Four 1/4" mounting feet with rivet attachments tie the rack into the bed, and two adjustable pressure mounts take up the variation between vehicles. Black textured powder coat, black anodized crossbars, black oxide stainless steel hardware throughout.
Adaptable
Three aluminum extrusion crossbars at 48 inches, with large slots running their length. Sherpa's drop-in nuts fall straight into the slots, so mounting a solar panel, traction board brackets or a cargo box does not mean dismantling anything. Set the spacing to suit what you are carrying and change it when the build changes.
Durable
Two hundred pounds dynamic and five hundred static on a rack that weighs thirty. It sits at the front of a camper taking the full force of highway air and whatever the trail throws at it, and it is built to do that for the life of the truck. Backed by Sherpa's Lifetime Warranty.
Half Fairing or Full Fairing
The Stratus comes with your choice of fairing, and on a camper rack the decision leans differently than it does on a cab rack.
| Full Fairing | Half Fairing | |
|---|---|---|
| Wind Noise | Quieter | More noticeable |
| Airflow Over Camper | Smoother | Less smoothing |
| Look | Covers the full front face | Lower, more minimal |
| Light Bar Clearance | Less room | More room |
On this rack the fairing is doing real aerodynamic work for the camper behind it, not just quieting the rack itself. If highway noise or fuel use matters to you, the full fairing is the one. If you want the lowest profile or you are mounting a light bar, go half.
About the Drilling
This rack requires drilling and the installation of rivets, and Sherpa recommends professional installation.
That is the honest trade for the mounting strength. Four 1/4 inch mounting feet riveted into the bed give you a direct load path rather than a clamp relying on friction, which is what supports a 200 lb dynamic rating on a rack this size. The two adjustable pressure mounts then take up the variation between individual vehicles.
If you are not comfortable drilling your own truck, do not. A shop will do it properly in an afternoon, and it is a one-time job.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where exactly does this mount?
In the bed, in front of your camper, filling the gap between the back of the cab and the front face of the camper. It is not a cab rack and does not sit on the roof of the truck. If you want a rack on the cab roof of a Ranger SuperCrew, that is the Sherpa Redcloud, and plenty of people run both.
Will it fit my camper?
The Stratus is built at 23 inches to fit a GFC Camper on a Ranger SuperCrew. There is no alternative size for this rack. If you run a different camper, or a GFC on a different truck, call us at 844-200-3979 before ordering and we will work out which Sherpa camper rack actually suits your setup.
Can I mount a solar panel on it?
That is the most common use. The three 48 inch crossbars have slots running their length and Sherpa's drop-in nuts make mounting straightforward, and a camper rack gives a solar panel a flat forward-facing home that is genuinely awkward to find anywhere else on a camper build. At 200 lbs dynamic, panel weight is not the limiting factor.
Does the fairing actually do anything?
On this rack, more than usual. It sits directly in front of the camper's flat front face, so it smooths air over the camper rather than just quieting the rack. Sherpa describes the rack as acting as a wind fairing, and that is why the full fairing is the better choice here unless you specifically need the lower profile of the half for a light bar.
Do I really have to drill?
Yes. The rack uses four 1/4 inch mounting feet with rivet attachments, which is what gives it a direct load path and supports the 200 lb dynamic rating. Two adjustable pressure mounts take up vehicle-to-vehicle variation. Sherpa recommends professional installation, and if you are not comfortable drilling your own truck, take that advice. It is a one-time job.
