Best Skid Plates For F150:
These F150 skid plates or to be more exact the engine F150 skid plate is among the best ones on the market currently. First off let's start by saying how sturdy and well-made they are. RCI has been in the skid plate making bussiness for some time now and they do it right.
Ford F150 skid plate is made out of high-strength 10 gauge steel which has been powder coated to prevent it from eroding in muddy environments. Needles to say that they can withstand pretty much any terrain there is while keeping your engine, power steering unit, front differential, front cross-member, engine bay, and low-hanging intercooler ( for EcoBoost Ford F150) intact.
This RCI skid plate can also be upgraded to a 1/4" thick 5052 aluminum construction in either a raw finish or black powder coat finish to save some weight. Your F150 factory skid plate, if it even has one, does its job but we don't reccomend keeping it if you are someone that frequently takes their vehicle onto rough terrains because the repairs will be more expensive than upgrading it.
Choose from two different materials:
10ga Steel– Great all-purpose protection, and the best value for the money. These make a great upgrade whether you already have the stock skid plates, or have nothing at all. Our 10 gauge skid plates are far tougher than OEM and provide significantly more coverage, especially when purchased as part of our “Full Skid Plate Package”. A heavy-duty black powder coat finish is standard on the steel option and will provide years of reliable use and great looks.
1/4” Aluminum– Excellent all-around protection for any purpose, substantially stronger than factory skid plates, extremely corrosion resistant, and cannot rust means they require no finish or paint prior to installation. The aluminum skid plates are extremely lightweight yet strong and are the premium choice if you are looking for the best strength-to-weight ratio, while being comparable if not holding a slight edge over the 10ga steel product line.
RCI Skid Plate Install F150:
Besides being an amazing, sturdy, well-designed piece of accessory for your Ford F150, it is also very easy to install. One great feature of this Ford skid plate is the bolt-on feature. You would simply bolt on the F150 skid plates to the already existing Ford factory attachment points with no drilling required.
Each Ford skid plate was designed to not interfere with aftermarket bumpers, brush guards, hidden winches, and any other upgrades when mounting it to your vehicle. Keep in mind that the RCI skid plates require removal of the factory air dam for installation and may require custom modifications to work with some suspension lift kits.
A few more other things that you should know is that the engine skid plates may not fit properly with aftermarket off-road bumpers that include their own skid plates, grille guards, or bull bars. Also this F150 skid plate will only fit the 4WD F150 and will not fit the RWD/2WD F150s.
As we already mentioned installing this F150 RCI skid plate is easy and if you have never done that before it's not a big deal. Just follow the instruction and use the necessary hardware that will be included in this RCI engine skid plate kit. However if you don't feel that you can do it you can always consult with professionals and have them mount it for you.

- 15-20 F-150 Model trucks may require removal of the air dam for installation. This air dam should be re-attachable post install.
- 2021 and newer trucks will not require the removal of the air dam for installation.
- This kit only fits 4WD F150s, and will not RWD/2WD F150s.
- The engine skid plate sections may require custom modifications to work with some suspension lift kits.
- The engine skid plates may not fit properly with aftermarket off-road bumpers that include their own skid plates, grille guards, or bull bars.
