1,200 lbs Static. 72 lbs. Off in Minutes, No Tools.
Sherpa JT QDHD for 2020-2026 Jeep Gladiator. Roll cage mounted, one-piece design, 7 adjustable crossbars.
This is the Jeep Gladiator roof rack built for people who want a loaded rack and open-air driving in the same truck. The JT QDHD mounts through the factory hard top directly into the roll cage, which is where its 500 lbs dynamic and 1,200 lbs static ratings come from. Those are numbers no gutter-clamped or track-mounted rack gets near.
As a JT roof rack it spans 65 inches over the cab: 1/4 inch aluminum side plates with stainless steel hardware and 7 adjustable crossbars. The one-piece design maximizes rigidity and load support, and billet quick-release knobs let you detach the whole rack without tools in minutes. Take the top off, get the rack and your gear back on, and be driving again in under 10 minutes. Finished in black textured powder coat with black anodized crossbars and black oxide stainless hardware. Drilling is required and all mounting hardware is included. Compatible with the 2024+ Rollbar Airbag System. Lifetime Warranty.
Roll Cage Mounted, Not Gutter Mounted
This is where the load rating comes from. Most gladiator roof rack systems clamp to rain gutters, factory tracks, or the hard top itself, and their ratings reflect that: typically 300 lbs dynamic and 600 to 700 static. The QDHD passes through the hard top and bolts into the roll cage, so loads go into the truck's structural cage rather than into sheet metal or plastic.
The result is 500 lbs dynamic and 1,200 lbs static, roughly double what any other roof rack for Jeep Gladiator builds will give you. That static figure is what matters if you sleep up there: it covers a rooftop tent plus two or three occupants plus gear with real margin. On a Gladiator that already has a bed rack carrying its share, having the cab rack rated this high means you are not splitting loads to stay under a limit.
The tradeoff is worth stating plainly: drilling is required. You are making a permanent change to the hard top. That is the price of a structural mount, and all the mounting hardware is included.
The QDHD Series
Industry leading premium roof rack systems. The QDHD line is all about rugged versatility without the hassle. With quick-detach mounts, you can pull the entire rack off in minutes, no special tools and no drama. Want to take off the top and enjoy open-air driving? No problem. The QDHD system lets you take off your Jeep's roof and get the rack and your gear back on in under 10 minutes, so you are never stuck choosing between utility and freedom. Wherever the trail takes you, Adventure with Confidence.

Quick Detach
Four billet quick-release knobs hold the rack to the arch brackets. Spin them off and the entire rack lifts away, no special tools and no drama. That is what makes this a genuine quick-release system rather than a rack you technically could remove if you set aside an afternoon. Pull the top for open-air driving, get the rack and your gear back on, and be moving again in under 10 minutes.

Adaptable
Seven adjustable 56 inch crossbars across a 65 inch platform, sliding to whatever spacing your gear needs rather than sitting at fixed points. Rooftop tents, awnings, kayaks, bikes, boards, traction boards, fuel and water cans, light bars, cargo boxes. On a jeep gladiator overland rack build where the bed is already carrying drawers and a fridge, the cab rack becomes where the bulky and awkward things live.

Heavy Duty
Mounting through the hard top into the roll cage is what separates HD from everything else. Four mounting brackets, four arch brackets, and four sets of sandwich plates spread the load across the cage structure rather than concentrating it at a few points. That is how a 72 lb aluminum rack ends up rated for 1,200 lbs static. Beat on it every weekend and trust it to show up to work on Monday.

Crafted
Precision 1/4 inch aluminum side plates finished with stainless steel hardware, in black textured powder coat with black anodized crossbars and black oxide stainless fasteners. Quarter-inch aluminum is thicker than most competing racks use, which is where the strength comes from without the weight penalty of steel. Made in the USA and backed by Sherpa's Lifetime Warranty.
One-Piece by Design
The JT QDHD uses a one-piece construction rather than the modular two-piece layout Sherpa runs on the four-door Wrangler. That is deliberate. A Gladiator's cab roof is shorter than a JLU's, so there is no freedom-panel section to work around, and a single continuous structure maximizes rigidity and load support across the whole span.
Practically, that means less flex under a heavy rooftop tent on washboard, and a rack that behaves as one piece rather than two sections that can work against each other. It is the right call for this vehicle.
Go Topless
The QDHD line is built for your lifestyle, whether you are running your Gladiator with the hardtop on or off. The rack mounts directly to the roll cage. Take your factory top off for open-air cruising or keep it on when the weather is not prime. With tool-less quick-detach hardware, switching configurations takes minutes, not hours.

Top Off. Rack On.

Cons
- Drilling into the hard top is required. This is a permanent modification, and it is the price of a structural roll cage mount
- This jeep gladiator rack covers the cab only. For gear over the bed you need a separate bed rack

- Install is more involved than a clamp-on rack. Watch the video and read the PDF before starting, or book a professional install
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to drill my hard top?
Yes. The QDHD passes through the factory hard top and bolts into the roll cage, and that requires drilling. All mounting hardware is included. It is a permanent modification to the top, and it is also exactly why this rack carries 1,200 lbs static rather than the 600 to 700 typical of racks that clamp to gutters or tracks. If you are not comfortable drilling, we can point you toward a professional installer.
Can I still take my top off?
Yes, and this is the whole point of the QDHD line. Because the rack mounts to the roll cage rather than the top, the top comes off independently. Four billet quick-detach knobs let you lift the rack away without tools when you need to, and Sherpa's own figure is that you can pull the top and have the rack and your gear back on in under 10 minutes. You are never choosing between a loaded rack and open-air driving.
Can I mount a rooftop tent on it?
Comfortably. 1,200 lbs of static capacity covers a rooftop tent plus two or three occupants plus gear with real margin, and 500 lbs dynamic handles the tent plus accessories while driving. That is roughly double what most Gladiator racks allow, so you can run a tent alongside traction boards, fuel cans, and a light bar without doing arithmetic. Note the rack spans 65 inches over the cab, so check your tent's closed footprint fits. Browse our rooftop tent collection here.
Why is this one-piece when the JLU rack is two-piece?
Because the vehicles are different. The four-door Wrangler has freedom panels, so Sherpa's JLU QDHD uses a two-piece design that lets you remove just the front section and run panels out. A Gladiator's cab roof is shorter with no equivalent section to work around, so a single continuous structure is the better engineering choice. It maximizes rigidity and load support across the span, which means less flex under a heavy tent on washboard.
Will it work with the 2024+ airbag system?
Yes. Sherpa confirms the JT QDHD is compatible with the 2024 and newer Rollbar Airbag System. That matters because a roll cage mounted rack on a newer Gladiator has to work around the airbag hardware, and not every rack does. If you have a 2024 or later Gladiator, call us at 844-200-3979 and we will confirm your specific configuration before you order.
Does it cover the bed too?
No. The JT QDHD is a cab rack, spanning 65 inches over the roof only. For gear over the bed you need a separate bed rack, and plenty of Gladiator builds run both: the cab rack for a rooftop tent and bulky items, the bed rack for everything else. Call us at 844-200-3979 and we will help you plan the combination. Browse bed racks here.
