110 Sq Ft of Freestanding Shade. One Person Setup.
23Zero Onyx 270. Premium 270-degree vehicle awning with 6-arm box-truss system and integrated RGB lighting.
The 23Zero Onyx 270 is a premium freestanding vehicle awning built for overlanding, basecamp setups, and extended outdoor travel. It delivers 110 square feet of wraparound shade with a full 270-degree sweep off the side and rear of your vehicle. Built around a rugged 6-arm aluminum box-truss system, the Onyx sets up quickly by one person in calm conditions and creates an instant shelter zone for cooking, staging gear, or relaxing at camp. This is next-level shade that does more than just block the sun.
Available in Left (Driver Side) and Right (Passenger Side) configurations. Select your variant above based on which side of your vehicle you want the awning to deploy from. Left is ideal for driver-side kitchen and camp layouts. Right is ideal for curbside setups, galley access, or passenger-side RTT entry.

Freestanding 6-Arm Architecture
The 6-arm aluminum box-truss system gives the Onyx 270 its rock-solid stance. In calm conditions, the awning is fully freestanding, meaning you can deploy it and use it without setting up poles. For overnight stays or in windy conditions, six telescoping support poles (four pre-installed, two additional) and six guy ropes with stakes provide added stability. The 270-degree arc spans 18.5 feet tip-to-tip, wrapping shade along the side and rear of your vehicle to create a cohesive outdoor living space. Whether you are pulling up roadside, setting camp, or running a rear kitchen, the Onyx creates a covered zone in seconds.

Dual Rooftop Tent Pass-Throughs
This is the feature that separates the Onyx from every other 270 awning. The awning ceiling has two weather-sealed access openings: a triangular rear pass-through (48" x 35") and a U-shaped center pass-through (36" x 32"). If your rooftop tent is mounted correctly above, you can unzip these panels and move between your tent and the awning's covered living space without stepping out into rain, sun, or wind. Designed to integrate with modern clamshell-style rooftop tents. Weather-sealed zips help minimize water ingress and keep your setup protected in wet conditions.

LST Fabric + Integrated RGB Lighting
The 320gsm polycotton honeycomb canvas with tear-check weave provides UV resistance and durability. Underneath, 23Zero's Light Suppression Technology (LST) blocks nearly 100% of UV light, preventing sunlight from penetrating the fabric. This makes the shaded area significantly darker and up to 20% cooler than traditional awning fabrics. When the sun goes down, four 58-inch dimmable LED light strips built into the awning arms take over. Multi-color RGB modes include white, amber, and full color spectrum with dimming control. The lighting is app compatible with optional phone control and a music sync mode for camp vibes after dark.
Construction and Materials
320gsm Polycotton Honeycomb Canvas: Tear-check weave with superior UV resistance. Polycotton breathes better than full synthetic fabrics, reducing condensation buildup on the underside during humid conditions.
LST Undercoating: 23Zero's proprietary Light Suppression Technology blocks light and reduces heat penetration. The shade underneath the Onyx is noticeably darker and cooler than under standard awning fabrics.
Extruded Aluminum Backboard: A reinforced structural spine runs the full length of the mounting surface, providing long-term durability and even load distribution across your rack.
1680D Laminated Transit Cover: Heavy-duty Oxford polyester with a #10 self-repairing zipper protects the awning during transit. The cover keeps dust, moisture, and road debris off the fabric when the awning is stowed.
Power Cord Storage: Integrated routing keeps the LED power cable managed and clean when the awning is packed. No loose cords hanging off your rack.
Left Side vs Right Side: Which Do You Need?
Left (Driver Side)
Deploys off the driver side of U.S. vehicles. Ideal for driver-side kitchen setups, roadside camp layouts where you want shade on the traffic-facing side, or driver-side RTT entry. The 270-degree arc wraps from the driver side across the rear.
Right (Passenger Side)
Deploys off the passenger side. Ideal for curbside camp layouts, rigs with passenger-side galley access, or right-side RTT entry. The 270-degree arc wraps from the passenger side across the rear. Most common for U.S. overlanders who camp curbside.
Select your preferred side using the variant selector above the Add to Cart button. If you are not sure which side works best for your rig and camp setup, call us at 844-200-3979.

Before You Install
Confirm your vehicle's roof load rating and rack capacity can support the awning's 64 lb weight plus wind load. Verify that your rack positioning allows proper deployment clearance on the side you selected (left or right). The mounting footprint is 84" wide, so ensure your rack provides at least 84 inches of horizontal mounting surface. Always test fit prior to final installation and torque.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Onyx 270 truly freestanding?
Yes, in calm conditions. The 6-arm aluminum box-truss system is designed to support itself without poles for quick stops and short deployments. For overnight stays or in windy conditions, use the included six telescoping poles and guy ropes for added stability and to prevent damage. Always stake down in wind.
Can I access my rooftop tent through the awning?
Yes. The Onyx 270 features two weather-sealed ceiling pass-through openings: a triangular rear opening (48" x 35") and a U-shaped center opening (36" x 32"). If your rooftop tent is mounted above, you can unzip these panels and move between your tent and the sheltered awning space without stepping outside. This works best with clamshell-style rooftop tents. Weather-sealed zips minimize water ingress in rain.
How do I control the LED lights?
The four 58-inch LED light strips can be controlled via the included physical switch cord or through a smartphone app. You can adjust brightness, switch between modes (white, amber, full RGB color), and even sync the lights to music. The lights run on USB power, so you can connect them to a portable power station, battery bank, or vehicle USB port.
What is LST (Light Suppression Technology)?
LST is 23Zero's proprietary undercoating applied to the awning canvas. It blocks nearly 100% of UV light from penetrating the fabric, which keeps the shaded area significantly darker and up to 20% cooler than standard awning fabrics. Traditional awnings let a lot of light through, making the shade feel hot and bright. LST solves that problem. This is one of 23Zero's key differentiators from other awning brands.
Left side or right side: how do I choose?
Choose based on which side of your vehicle you want the awning to deploy from. Left (driver side) is ideal for driver-side kitchen setups and roadside camping. Right (passenger side) is ideal for curbside camp layouts and rigs with passenger-side galley access or RTT entry. Think about where you typically park and set up camp, and which side gives you the most usable space. If you are not sure, call us at 844-200-3979 and we will help you decide.
