Your Sunroof Still Works
Front Runner Slimline 3 Roof Rack Kit. Built for the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 Prado.
Two Things to Check Before Ordering
- Not suited for models with a panoramic sunroof. The standard sunroof is fine and stays fully operational. The panoramic version is not compatible.
- The OEM roof rails have to come off for installation. Factor that into the job.
The 250 Prado brought the Land Cruiser name back to a size and price people could actually act on, and the roof is the first place most owners start building. This is the Dometic Front Runner Slimline 3, a purpose-built 2025 Land Cruiser roof rack for the LC250.
This Land Cruiser 250 roof rack is a 92.1 inch flat platform, 51.2 inches wide, sitting 3.1 inches tall and 20% lower than the Slimline II, which cuts drag, wind noise and fuel consumption. Crucially, the standard sunroof remains fully operational with the rack fitted. Slats move individually without dismantling the rack, dual T-slot channels take accessories at multiple pitches, and all four corners carry integrated tie-down points. The easy-release mounting system lets the rack come off without disturbing any roof seals. Heat-treated aluminium and high-strength 3CR12 stainless steel, black powder coated, with stainless fasteners. Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Full-Length Platform, Working Sunroof
This is the detail worth leading with. Most full-length platform racks sit over the sunroof and quietly end it as a feature. Dometic engineered this kit so the standard sunroof stays fully operational with the rack mounted.
It is the sort of thing you only appreciate after the fact. Ninety-two inches of platform across the roof, loaded with a tent and an awning, and you can still open the roof on a good day.
The exception is the panoramic sunroof. If your Prado has it, this kit is not compatible, and that is a hard limit rather than a caution. Check which one you have before ordering, and call us at 844-200-3979 if you are not certain.
Move Slats Without Dismantling Anything
On the Slimline 3 you can add, remove, or shift individual slats without taking the rack apart. Fitting a new accessory no longer means pulling the tray down and rebuilding it around the mount. Across 92 inches of platform where you may be arranging a tent, an awning, boards and cargo together, that saves an afternoon every time the build changes.
About the OEM Roof Rails
Fitting any Land Cruiser roof rack of this type starts here: the factory roof rails need to come off before the rack goes on. That is normal for a platform rack of this type, since the mounting system needs the roof itself rather than working around the rails.
Worth planning for: it adds a step to the install, and you will want somewhere to keep the rails if you ever intend to put the vehicle back to standard. The good news is the easy-release mounting system means the rack itself can come off later without disturbing any roof seals, so the job is done once properly rather than repeatedly.
Lower, Quieter, Cheaper to Run
Height is where this Front Runner roof rack separates itself. The Slimline 3 platform is 3.1 inches tall, a 20% reduction on the Slimline II, and across 92 inches that adds up.
Less Drag
A lower platform presents less frontal area, which shows up directly in fuel consumption on a long highway run.
Less Wind Noise
The most common complaint about any platform rack. Lowering the profile is the most effective fix.
Better Clearance
A 250 Prado is tall before you add anything, and taller again once lifted. Every inch counts in a garage.
Dual T-Slots and Staggered Insertion
Each slat carries dual T-slot channels with multiple staggered insertion points along its length, and slats can be set to different mounting pitches.
That means you can insert hardware at several points rather than threading it from one end, and you can change spacing to suit what you are mounting. A rooftop tent wants different pitch to a pair of recovery boards, and on a platform this long you will want both on the same rack.
Details That Show Up in Daily Use
Integrated Tie-Down Points
All four corners have built-in tie-down points compatible with Stratchits, Stratchit shorties, and other lightweight securing straps. No add-on brackets needed for the strapping most people do most often.
Concealed Wire Routing
Dedicated channels within the side profiles let you route wiring for lights and other electrical accessories out of sight. Corner sections include built-in pass-throughs and breakout tabs, so wires enter and exit cleanly rather than being cable-tied along the outside of the rack.
Full Accessory Compatibility
Every Front Runner top-mount accessory works with the Slimline 3. On an LC250 roof rack build that matters, since the Prado is new enough that dedicated accessories are still arriving. The Front Runner catalogue gives you tables, jack mounts, shovel brackets, can holders and awnings immediately.
Built for Weather and Abuse
- Heat-treated aluminium for the tray and slats, keeping weight sensible across a full-length platform.
- High-strength 3CR12 stainless steel in the structural components, chosen for corrosion resistance in wet and salty environments.
- Weather-resistant black powder-coated finish over the top.
- Stainless steel fasteners as standard, not an upgrade.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my sunroof still work?
If it is the standard sunroof, yes, fully operational with the rack installed. Dometic engineered the kit around it, which is unusual for a full-length platform. If your Prado has the panoramic sunroof, this kit is not compatible at all. That is a hard limit. Check which you have before ordering, and call us at 844-200-3979 if you are not sure.
Do I have to remove my factory roof rails?
Yes. The OEM roof rails must come off before the rack can be installed, since the mounting system attaches to the roof rather than working around the rails. Keep them somewhere safe if you ever want to return the vehicle to standard. The rack itself can be removed later without disturbing roof seals, so this is a one-time job.
Will it fit my Land Cruiser?
This Prado roof rack is built for the Land Cruiser 250 Prado, 2025 and current, and includes the vehicle-specific MSTL001 mounting system. It is not a universal fit and will not suit earlier Land Cruiser generations. Panoramic sunroof models are excluded. Call us at 844-200-3979 with your year and trim if you want confirmation.
Can I mount a rooftop tent on it?
Yes, and at 92.1 by 51.2 inches a tent uses only part of the platform, leaving room for an awning and boards. Dometic does not publish a load rating for this kit, so check your tent's weight against Toyota's roof load limit for the LC250 before ordering. Call us at 844-200-3979 with the tent you are considering. Browse rooftop tents here.
How does it compare to a Sherpa rack for the same truck?
Different approaches. The Slimline 3 is a platform tray with movable slats and T-slot channels, built around Front Runner's accessory ecosystem. The Sherpa Atlas is a side plate and crossbar rack with published load ratings that also fits the Lexus GX550. If you already own Front Runner accessories, this is the natural choice. Call us at 844-200-3979 and we will talk it through.
Can I run wiring for lights through it?
Yes, and cleanly. Dedicated channels inside the side profiles carry wiring for lights and other electrical accessories out of sight, and the corner sections have built-in pass-throughs and breakout tabs so wires enter and exit where you need them. No cable ties along the outside of the rack.
