First of all, let's start by saying that these engine skid plates have 3/16” CNC cut steel construction which is very sturdy and durable and can withstand pretty much any terrain. They are also black powder coated to prevent erosion.
Apart from steel construction, you can also choose the 1/4” laser-cut aluminum construction which can also come with a black powder coat or even just a raw metal finish. Aluminum 4th gen 4runner skid plates will, of course, be lighter than steel ones however they will provide as much protection to your vehicle.
