Every antenna on a rack eventually meets a low branch, a parking garage, or a drive-through roof. The usual options are both bad: unbolt it every time, or hear the crack and hope it survived. This antenna mount gives you a third option, because the whole thing folds down in seconds and springs back up when you are clear.
This roof rack antenna mount secures to either side or the rear of your Slimline 3 rack and pivots a full 90 degrees forward or backward from upright, in 30 degree increments. An index pin drops the antenna down, and a clamping bracket holds it flat and secure when it is not in use. It takes fiberglass antennas under a metre, whip antennas, and magnetic base antennas, with a magnetic base included in the box. Built from black powder-coated 3CR12 stainless steel.
Fold It Down Without Taking It Off
The pivot is the reason to buy this mount. It swings 90 degrees total, forward or backward from upright, and it indexes at 30 degree increments so it holds wherever you set it rather than flopping around.
Low Clearance
Garage, car park, drive-through, low branches. Pull the index pin, drop the antenna, carry on.
Dial In the Angle
Thirty degree steps let you rake the antenna back on the highway or set it upright for best reception at camp.
Stowed and Secured
The clamping bracket holds the antenna flat and firm when it is down, so it does not rattle or whip around on the move.
That last part matters more than it reads. Plenty of fold-down mounts drop the antenna but leave it resting loose against the rack, where it vibrates against the tray for a thousand miles. The clamping bracket is a proper hold, not a rest.
Three Places to Put It
The mount secures to either side of the rack or to the rear, and a rear mounting spacer comes in the box for that position.
That flexibility matters because antenna placement is not arbitrary. You may want it away from a rooftop tent that opens on one side, clear of an awning that deploys on the other, or at the back where it is furthest from the cab and least likely to foul anything. Being able to pick the side after the rest of the build is in place saves rethinking the whole layout around a radio.
What Antennas It Takes
As a CB antenna mount, a GMRS antenna mount or a ham radio antenna mount, it is built around the three common antenna styles rather than one brand's hardware.
| Antenna Type | Notes |
|---|---|
| Fiberglass | Must be under 1 metre in length |
| Whip | Standard whip antennas |
| Magnetic Base | A magnetic base is included in the box |
The magnetic base being supplied is worth noticing. It means a mag-mount antenna you already own has somewhere solid and grounded to sit, rather than being stuck to whatever flat panel you could find on the vehicle.
The one limit to respect is the 1 metre maximum on fiberglass antennas. Longer fiberglass whips put more leverage on the mount than it is built for. If you are running something taller, call us at 844-200-3979 before ordering.
Built From the Right Material
A roof rack antenna mount sits permanently exposed, carries something that whips about at 70 mph, and has a pivot joint that has to keep working after a few winters of salt.
It is made from 3CR12 stainless steel with a black powder coat, the same material and finish used across the Front Runner rack range. On a part with a moving joint and an index pin, corrosion resistance is not cosmetic: a seized pivot is a mount you stop using.
Stainless steel installation hardware and a fitment guide are included.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it take my CB or GMRS antenna?
It handles fiberglass antennas under 1 metre, whip antennas, and magnetic base antennas, with a magnetic base included. That covers most CB, GMRS and ham setups running on a vehicle. The limit to watch is fiberglass length, since anything over a metre puts more leverage on the mount than it is built for. Call us at 844-200-3979 with your antenna and we will confirm.
How does the fold-down work?
An index pin releases the antenna so it can drop down, and the mount pivots 90 degrees total, forward or backward from upright, in 30 degree steps. The clamping bracket then holds it flat and secure rather than leaving it resting loose against the rack where it would vibrate. Takes seconds, and you never unbolt the antenna.
Can I mount it at the back of the rack?
Yes. It secures to either side or the rear of the Slimline 3, and a rear mounting spacer is supplied for that position. Rear mounting keeps the antenna furthest from the cab and clear of a rooftop tent or awning, which is often the cleanest spot once the rest of the build is in place.
Can I run two antennas?
Each mount holds one antenna, so a dual radio setup needs two mounts. That is straightforward on a Slimline 3, since you can put one on each side, or one on a side and one at the rear. Call us at 844-200-3979 and we will work out the placement around your tent and awning.
Where does the coax run?
Cable routing is down to your install, but the Slimline 3 helps here. The rack has concealed wiring channels in the side profiles with corner pass-throughs and breakout tabs, designed for running cable out of sight. That is the same path people use for light wiring, and it works just as well for antenna coax.
