The Whole Roof, Working
Front Runner Slimline 3 Full-Length Roof Rack Kit. Built for the Toyota 4Runner 6th Gen N500.
If you are building a 4Runner to carry everything at once, a partial platform runs out of room quickly. This is the full-length Dometic Front Runner Slimline 3, a 6th Gen 4Runner roof rack that uses the entire roof, built specifically for the N500.
As a 2025 4Runner roof rack it uses the whole roof: the tray runs 84.2 inches long by 48.8 inches wide and sits 3.5 inches tall, 20% lower than the Slimline II, cutting drag, wind noise and fuel consumption. Slats move individually without dismantling the rack, dual T-slot channels take accessories at multiple pitches, and all four corners carry integrated tie-down points. The easy-release mounting system lets the rack come off without disturbing any roof seals. Wiring for lights routes through concealed channels in the side profiles. Heat-treated aluminium and high-strength 3CR12 stainless steel, black powder coated, with stainless fasteners. Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Full Length or Three Quarter?
There are two Slimline 3 kits to choose between for this truck. Both are a 6th gen 4Runner roof rack built on the same tray design, same mounting system, different amount of roof.
| Full Length (this kit) | Three Quarter | |
|---|---|---|
| Platform Length | 84.2" | 60.3" |
| Platform Width | 48.8" on both | |
| Net Weight | 80.66 lbs | 60.53 lbs |
| Rear of Roof | Covered | Left clear |
| Tray Part | MRSTE10 | MRSTE07 |
| Best For | Tent plus awning, boards and cargo together | Lighter builds, rear area kept clear |
Choose full length if you want a rooftop tent and an awning and boards and a cargo box, all on the roof at the same time, with room to lay them out properly.
Choose the three quarter version if you want a working platform that keeps 20 lbs off the roof and leaves the rear of the vehicle unobstructed.
What Eighty-Four Inches Gets You
The difference between a partial and a full 4Runner roof rack is whether you are arranging gear or fitting it in.
Tent Plus Everything
A rooftop tent takes the rear section while the front stays free for an awning, boards, and a shovel.
Long Loads
Kayaks, ladders, lumber and surfboards sit properly supported across the full length rather than overhanging.
Room to Rearrange
With movable slats across 84 inches, you can reconfigure the whole layout rather than working around fixed points.
Move Slats Without Dismantling Anything
On the Slimline 3 you can add, remove, or shift individual slats without taking the rack apart. Fitting a new accessory no longer means pulling the tray down and rebuilding it around the mount. Across a full-length platform, where you may be arranging a tent, an awning, boards and a cargo box together, that flexibility saves real time.
Lower, Quieter, Cheaper to Run
Height is where this Front Runner roof rack separates itself. The Slimline 3 tray is 20% lower than the Slimline II, and across 84 inches of length that reduction adds up.
Less Drag
A lower platform presents less frontal area, which shows up directly in fuel consumption on a long highway run.
Less Wind Noise
The most common complaint about any platform rack. Lowering the profile is the most effective fix.
Better Clearance
A 4Runner is tall before you add anything, and taller again once lifted. Every inch counts in a garage.
Comes Off Without Unsealing the Roof
The easy-release mounting system uses an exclusive extrusion that lets you remove the rack without disturbing any roof seals. The mounting hardware stays in place and sealed while the rack lifts away.
That makes installation simpler and maintenance considerably easier. On a full-length platform at 80 lbs, it also makes seasonal removal a realistic option rather than a job you avoid for three years.
Dual T-Slots and Staggered Insertion
Each slat carries dual T-slot channels with multiple staggered insertion points along its length, and slats can be set to different mounting pitches.
That means you can insert hardware at several points rather than threading it from one end, and you can change spacing to suit what you are mounting. A rooftop tent wants different pitch to a pair of recovery boards, and on a platform this long you will likely want both on the same rack.
Details That Show Up in Daily Use
Integrated Tie-Down Points
All four corners have built-in tie-down points compatible with Stratchits, Stratchit shorties, and other lightweight securing straps. No add-on brackets needed for the strapping most people do most often.
Concealed Wire Routing
Dedicated channels within the side profiles let you route wiring for lights and other electrical accessories out of sight. Corner sections include built-in pass-throughs and breakout tabs, so wires enter and exit cleanly rather than being cable-tied along the outside of the rack.
Full Accessory Compatibility
Every Front Runner top-mount accessory works with the Slimline 3, which on a platform this size is the point. For anyone shopping 2026 4Runner accessories, the rack is the foundation the rest of the roof hangs off.
Built for Weather and Abuse
- Heat-treated aluminium for the tray and slats, keeping weight sensible across a full-length platform.
- High-strength 3CR12 stainless steel in the structural components, chosen for corrosion resistance in wet and salty environments.
- Weather-resistant black powder-coated finish over the top.
- Stainless steel fasteners as standard, not an upgrade.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I get the full length or the three quarter?
Full length at 84.2 inches if you want a rooftop tent plus an awning, boards and cargo on the roof at the same time, or if you carry long loads that need support along their length. The three quarter version at 60.3 inches saves 20 lbs and leaves the rear of the roof clear, which suits lighter builds. Width, height and features are identical on both.
Will it fit my 4Runner?
This kit is built for the 6th Gen 4Runner (N500), the 2025 and newer generation. It includes the vehicle-specific MSTF002 mounting system, so it is not a universal fit. The 2010-2024 5th Gen needs a different rack entirely. Call us at 844-200-3979 with your year if you want it confirmed before ordering.
Can I mount a rooftop tent on it?
Yes, and the full-length tray means a tent does not use up the whole platform. An 84.2 inch tray typically leaves the front section free for an awning and boards once a tent is mounted at the rear. Dometic does not publish a load rating for this kit, so check your tent's weight against Toyota's roof load limit for the 6th Gen. Call us at 844-200-3979 with the tent you are considering. Browse rooftop tents here.
Can I take the rack off without unsealing the roof?
Yes. The easy-release mounting system uses an exclusive extrusion that lets the rack come off without disturbing any roof seals. The mounting hardware stays in place and sealed while the rack itself lifts away. At 80 lbs you will want a second pair of hands, but the job itself is straightforward.
How does it compare to a Sherpa rack for the same truck?
Different approaches. The Slimline 3 is a platform tray with movable slats and T-slot channels, built around Front Runner's accessory ecosystem. The Sherpa Capitol is a side plate and crossbar rack with published load ratings. If you already own Front Runner accessories, this is the natural choice. Call us at 844-200-3979 and we will talk it through.
Can I run wiring for lights through it?
Yes, and cleanly. Dedicated channels inside the side profiles carry wiring for lights and other electrical accessories out of sight, and the corner sections have built-in pass-throughs and breakout tabs so wires enter and exit where you need them. No cable ties along the outside of the rack.
