The Rainier. No Drilling. No Modifications. 45 lbs.
Sherpa PEAK Series for the 4th Gen Tacoma Double Cab. 1/4" aircraft-grade aluminum. 300 lb dynamic / 700 lb static.
✓ No Drilling Required
The Rainier bolts to your 4th Gen Tacoma with no drilling and no vehicle modifications. Nothing permanent happens to your roof, which matters for warranty, resale, and peace of mind. That is a meaningful difference from many full-length truck racks, including some in Sherpa's own lineup that require drilling and rivets.
The Rainier is Sherpa's full-length platform rack for the 2024-2026 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab, and it is built around the same PEAK Series construction that made Sherpa's name. Precision laser-cut 1/4 inch aircraft-grade aluminum sideplates, CNC formed, with stainless steel hardware throughout. Seven extrusion crossbars at 48 inches each span a 63 inch by 48.5 inch platform, and the whole assembly weighs roughly 45 lbs.
Secure gear by bolting into any of the seven crossbars or by strapping directly to the side plates. Load rating is 300 lbs dynamic and 700 lbs static, which handles a rooftop tent with occupants plus your gear. It ships in a black textured powder coat with black anodized crossbars and black oxide stainless steel hardware. Choose a Full Height wind fairing for maximum air deflection or a Half Height fairing sized to sit flush with a single-row light bar. Manufactured in Colorado. Lifetime Warranty.
The PEAK Series
Industry leading premium roof rack systems. The PEAK series is the go-to for a premium aluminum roof rack. It is the line that Sherpa built its name on, and for years it has carried the gear of the most extreme adventurers. Sherpa believes in the constant evolution of their products, building the toughest systems on the market. From industry-leading alloys to uncompromising mounts with rubber seals, you will always Adventure with Confidence.

Crafted
Manufactured in Colorado with precision laser-cut 1/4" aluminum sideplates formed with CNC accuracy by Sherpa's team of professionals. They have created a very stout mounting structure, secured with stainless steel hardware, that will keep your gear where you need it. The 1/4 inch aircraft-grade aluminum is thicker than most competing racks, which is where the strength comes from without the weight penalty of steel.

Adaptable
Sherpa knows the importance of mounting all of your goodies on your rig. With the PEAK Series, you have the ability to mount just about anything, anywhere. With slots and holes all over the rack, plus Sherpa's line of accessories, you will never find yourself wishing you could mount something. Bolt into any of the seven extrusion crossbars, or strap gear directly to the side plates.

Durable
Strength is built into Sherpa's brand and the PEAK System is what they built their name on. Using the best in materials and hardware, you can beat on this system every weekend and trust it to show up to work on Monday. The 300 lb dynamic and 700 lb static ratings handle a full rooftop tent setup with occupants. All backed by Sherpa's Lifetime Warranty, just in case you get a little too western.
Choose Your Fairing
Both fairings cost the same and both deflect air over the rack to cut wind noise. The only question is whether you plan to run a light bar.
Full Height Fairing
Built for people who do not want to put a light bar on their rack. The taller smooth face deflects the most air for the quietest ride and the cleanest uninterrupted look.
Half Height Fairing
Shorter so a single-row light bar fits behind it and sits flush with the fairing line. Pick this one if a light bar is in the build now or later.

📄 Installation Instructions

Pros
- No drilling and no vehicle modifications. Nothing permanent happens to your factory roof
- 1/4" aircraft-grade aluminum sideplates, thicker than most competing racks
- 300 lbs dynamic / 700 lbs static handles a rooftop tent with occupants and gear
- Seven 48" crossbars across a 63" x 48.5" platform for full-length gear coverage
- Mount by bolting into crossbars or strapping directly to the side plates
- Only ~45 lbs, light for a full-length platform rack this size
- Choice of Full or Half Height fairing at the same price
- Manufactured in Colorado with a Lifetime Warranty
Cons
- Fits the Double Cab only. Other 4th Gen Tacoma cab configurations need a different rack
- 300 lb dynamic rating is lower than roll-cage-mounted systems that reach 500 lbs. That is a limitation of roof-mounted racks generally, not of the Rainier
- Fairing choice is made at purchase. Switching later means buying the other fairing separately
Frequently Asked Questions
Does installation require drilling?
No. The Rainier installs with no drilling and no vehicle modifications. It uses four mounting brackets that attach to existing points on the 4th Gen Tacoma roof, and all required hardware is included. Nothing permanent happens to your truck, which is worth real money at resale and keeps you clear of warranty arguments. Download the install PDF above before you start.
Can I mount a rooftop tent on the Rainier?
Yes. With 300 lbs of dynamic capacity and 700 lbs of static capacity, the Rainier handles most rooftop tents plus occupants and gear. The 63" x 48.5" platform accommodates full-size hardshell and softshell tents. Check your tent's closed weight against the 300 lb dynamic rating for driving, and remember the static rating is what applies once you are parked and sleeping. Browse our rooftop tent collection here.
Which fairing should I choose?
Choose Full Height if you are not running a light bar. It has a taller smooth face that deflects the most air for the quietest ride. Choose Half Height if you want to mount a single-row light bar, since it is shorter so the bar sits flush with the fairing line rather than proud of it. Both cost the same, so this is purely a build decision. If a light bar is anywhere in your future plans, Half Height saves you buying a second fairing later.
What can I mount to it?
The PEAK Series has slots and holes throughout. Bolt accessories directly into any of the seven extrusion crossbars, or strap gear straight to the side plates. Common setups include rooftop tents, awnings, recovery boards, MaxTrax, Rotopax fuel and water containers, light bars, cargo boxes, kayak saddles, and shovels. Sherpa also makes a full accessory line that bolts into the PEAK mounting points.
Will it fit my 4th Gen Tacoma?
The Rainier is built specifically for the 2024-2026 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab. It is not designed for other cab configurations or earlier Tacoma generations. If you have a 3rd Gen or earlier Tacoma, or a different cab, call us at 844-200-3979 and we will point you at the right rack for your truck.
