Of all the 4th gen Tacoma accessories you can bolt on, a bed camper is the one that changes the truck most. It solves your sleeping problem and creates a storage one. Everything that lived in the bed now lives inside the camper with you, and the gap between the cab and the camper front sits empty, doing nothing except catching air at highway speed.
The Sherpa Rainier Shorty fills it. This Tacoma camper rack mounts in front of your camper on a 2024 and newer Tacoma, giving you a platform where there was dead space, plus a wind fairing for the camper behind it. It uses two 1/4 inch mounting feet that tie into the factory roof mounts, comes with 3 or 4 crossbars depending on size, and offers a choice of half or full fairing. Which Size Do You Need?
This is the part to get right. Sherpa sizes the Rainier Shorty by the camper you run and the bed it sits on, so the same truck can need either size depending on what is in the back.

Notice what that table is telling you: a Double Cab Short Bed takes either size depending on whether you run a Super Pacific, Project M or Alucab (17 inch) or a GFC (27 inch). Same truck, same bed, different rack. Ordering by truck alone will get it wrong.

Unlike most 2024 Tacoma accessories, the 27 inch gives you a noticeably more usable platform with an extra crossbar, but you do not get to pick. The size is set by your camper and bed combination.

Crafted
Manufactured in Colorado, CNC machined and finished by Sherpa's own team. Two 1/4 inch mounting feet tie the rack into the factory roof mounts already on the truck, giving a direct load path rather than a clamp relying on friction. Black textured powder coat, black anodized crossbars, black oxide stainless steel hardware throughout.
Adaptable
Three or four aluminum extrusion crossbars depending on your size, with large slots running their length. Sherpa's drop-in nuts fall straight into the slots, so mounting a solar panel, traction board brackets or a cargo box does not mean taking anything apart. Set the spacing for what you are carrying and change it when the build changes.
Durable
This rack sits at the front of a camper taking the full force of highway air and whatever the trail throws at it, which is a harder life than a cab rack has. It is built to do that for the life of the truck, and it is backed by Sherpa's Lifetime Warranty.

The Rainier Shorty comes with your choice of fairing, and on a camper rack the decision leans differently than it does on a cab rack.

On this rack the fairing is doing real aerodynamic work for the camper behind it, not just quieting the rack itself. If highway noise or fuel use matters, take the full fairing. If you want the lowest profile or you are mounting a light bar, go half.

Sherpa lists it as varies rather than publishing a figure, since it changes with size and configuration, and we are not going to invent a number. For a solar panel, traction boards or a cargo bag, the loads involved are modest. If you are planning something heavier, call us at 844-200-3979 and we will get a figure confirmed for your specific setup before you load it.
Where does it mount?
In the bed, in front of your camper, filling the gap between the back of the cab and the camper's front face. It uses two 1/4 inch mounting feet that tie into the factory roof mounts. It is not a cab rack and does not sit on the roof of the truck.
Does the fairing actually do anything?
On this rack, more than usual. It sits directly in front of the camper's flat front face, so it smooths air over the camper rather than just quieting the rack. That is why the full fairing is usually the better choice here, unless you specifically want the lower profile of the half for a light bar.
