Cayenne and Touareg
The first-generation Cayenne and Touareg were developed together and share a platform and roof, so one rack covers both across 2003 to 2010.

At roughly 40 lbs, the Rammstein is the lightest rack Sherpa builds in the PEAK line. Most full-length racks run 50 to 65 lbs.
On a Cayenne or Touareg that matters more than it would on a body-on-frame truck. These are car-like SUVs with air suspension on many trims and a driving character people actually enjoy. Every pound on the roof raises the center of gravity and dulls that. Keeping the rack itself light preserves more of the load rating for gear, and more of the handling for you.
It also helps that the rack sits only 2.5 inches tall, so it adds minimal height and wind drag to a vehicle that was designed to be reasonably aerodynamic.

Two Adjustable Leveling Mounts
The Rammstein includes two adjustable leveling mounts. Rooflines are rarely perfectly flat, and these let you dial the rack level rather than accepting whatever angle the factory points give you. With pressure mounted feet, that matters twice over: a level rack seats evenly on all four feet, which spreads clamping load and keeps pressure off any single spot on the paint.
Which Fairing Is Right for You?
Sherpa's full height fairing is built for people who do not want to put a light bar on their rack. The half height fairing is made so you can fit a single row light bar while keeping everything flush. Both cost the same, so this is purely a build decision.

Why do I need vinyl or PPF under the feet?
The Rammstein uses pressure mounted feet, which clamp against the roof rather than bolting through it. That is what makes it drill-free, but it also means the feet sit directly on your paint under load. A small piece of vinyl wrap or paint protection film under each foot prevents rub marks and clear coat wear over time. It costs very little and takes minutes during install. Sherpa recommends it, and on a Cayenne or Touareg we would not skip it.
Will it fit my Cayenne or Touareg?
If it is a 2003 through 2010 model, yes. As a Touareg roof rack and a Cayenne roof rack it is the same part, because the first-generation Cayenne and Touareg were developed together and share a roof, so one rack covers both. Later generations changed roof geometry and are not compatible. Call us at 844-200-3979 with your year and model if you want confirmation before ordering.
Does installation require drilling?
No. The Rammstein is drill-free and requires zero modification. It mounts using four brackets with anchor plates and pressure mounted feet, and all required hardware is included. The only preparation we recommend is applying vinyl or PPF under the feet first to protect the paint.
Can I mount a rooftop tent on it?
A lighter one, yes, but check the numbers first. 300 lbs dynamic covers the tent plus accessories while driving, and 600 lbs static covers the tent plus occupants once parked. That 600 lb static figure is lower than most PEAK racks, so a heavy hardshell plus three adults is worth calculating. A tent in the 100 to 130 lb range leaves comfortable margin. How does 40 lbs carry 600 lbs?
Material and geometry. The side plates are 1/4 inch aircraft-grade aluminum, which is thicker than most competing racks use, and the extruded crossbars are structurally efficient. Aluminum gets you strength without the weight of steel, which is why a full-length rack can come in at 40 lbs and still carry a loaded rooftop tent with occupants once parked.
Which fairing should I choose?
Choose Full Height if you are not running a light bar, since it deflects the most air for the quietest ride. Choose Half Height if you want a single-row light bar to sit flush with the fairing line. Both cost the same. If a light bar is anywhere in your plans, Half Height saves you buying a second fairing later.
