The EXR2641 Universal U-Bolt Mounting Kit is a heavy-duty, contoured U-bolt solution designed to securely attach rooftop accessories to a wide range of crossbar styles. Originally developed to mount the EXR5181 Kayak Basket to virtually any roof rack, this kit has proven equally effective for many third-party applications including rooftop tents, cargo baskets, storage platforms, and custom mounting projects.

Unlike generic straight U-bolts, EXR2641 hardware is shaped specifically for roof rack use—providing improved contact, reduced bar deformation, and a cleaner, more secure attachment across curved and aerodynamic crossbar profiles.

Three Crossbar-Specific Variants

The EXR2641 kit is offered in three variants. Select the version that matches your crossbar type:

Aero / Aerodynamic Crossbars – contoured for wing-style and teardrop aluminum bars (most common)
Oversized Crossbars – designed for tall or thick heavy-duty aftermarket bars (common on truck beds)
Square Crossbars – sized for traditional square aluminum or steel crossbars

Each variant is precisely sized to wrap the bar profile correctly, minimizing movement and avoiding stress points commonly caused by undersized or improperly shaped hardware.

Integrated Tie-Down Straps Included

Each EXR2641 kit includes a pair of EXR4951 heavy-duty cam buckle straps, providing a complete mounting and load-securing solution right out of the box.

EXR4951 straps are made from high-grade, mildew-resistant polyester with minimal stretch and a soft, non-abrasive feel—designed specifically for roof-mounted gear. Paired with high-strength black cam buckles, these straps are trusted for securing kayaks, baskets, tents, and cargo in demanding real-world conditions.

The included straps are suitable for roof rack and recreational cargo use and eliminate the need to source separate tie-downs for many applications.

Roof Rack & Tent Compatibility

The EXR2641 U-bolt kit is frequently used as an alternative or supplemental mounting solution for rooftop tents—particularly in situations where:

The tent manufacturer hardware is missing or insufficient
A wider or thicker crossbar is used
Additional weight-distribution crossbars are added beneath a tent
