The Thunder mounts to factory locations on your Super Duty. No drilling, no cutting. Six mounting brackets ship with rubber seals, so nothing permanent happens to your cab roof.
A Super Duty is built to work, and most cab racks for it are either flimsy universal bars or heavy steel baskets that eat into payload. The Thunder is neither. It is a Sherpa PEAK F250 roof rack built with industry-leading 1/4 inch aircraft-grade aluminum side panels and stainless steel hardware, which makes it one of the toughest aluminum racks around while staying at roughly 55 lbs.
As a Ford F250 roof rack it spans 68 inches across the crew cab with 7 extrusion crossbars and carries 300 lbs dynamic and 700 lbs static. Strap gear directly to the side plates, bolt into the crossbars, or mount any of Sherpa's accessories. Installation is drill-free and uses six rubber-sealed brackets. Black textured powder coat, black anodized crossbars, black oxide stainless hardware. Choose a Full Height wind fairing or a Half Height fairing sized for a single-row light bar. Built for a Truck That Works
On a Super Duty, every pound on the roof comes out of payload somewhere else. A steel cab basket can weigh 100 lbs or more before you load it. At around 55 lbs, the Thunder gives you a full-width platform with 700 lbs of static capacity while leaving that payload for the bed, the camper, or the trailer tongue.
That makes it a practical super duty roof rack, and arguably the best-built Ford Super Duty roof rack in aluminum, for the jobs these trucks actually do: carrying ladders and lumber to a site, hauling kayaks or a rooftop tent on the weekend, or running a light bar and recovery gear on an overland build. Fitment Details That Matter
Sharkfin Antenna
Some Super Duty trims carry a tall sharkfin antenna at the front of the roof. The Thunder does not fit trucks with that antenna, because the rack occupies that space. Take a look at the front of your roof before ordering. If you are not sure whether yours counts as the tall version, send us a photo.
2023 and Newer Bolt Pattern
Ford changed the roof bolt hole configuration from 2023 onward. The Thunder still fits, but the mounting feet attach at different points than on 2017-2022 trucks. The install guide covers it, and we are happy to walk you through where your feet go before you start.
2026 and Newer With Sunroof
On 2026 and newer trucks with a sunroof, the sunroof air deflector rises automatically when the sunroof opens and may touch the crossbars. Sherpa confirms this does not affect the performance or function of the rack. It is worth knowing so it does not surprise you the first time.

Sherpa's full height fairing is built for people who do not want to put a light bar on their rack. The half height fairing is made so you can fit a single row light bar while keeping everything flush. Both cost the same, so this is purely a build decision.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my F250, F350, or F450?
If it is a 2017 through 2026 Crew Cab without a tall sharkfin antenna at the front of the roof, yes. The Thunder works as an F350 roof rack and an F450 roof rack exactly the same as on the F250, because the Super Duty cab is shared across all three. It does not fit Regular Cab or SuperCab trucks. What is the sharkfin antenna issue?
Some Super Duty trims have a tall sharkfin antenna mounted at the front of the roof. The Thunder occupies that part of the roof, so trucks with that antenna are not compatible. Can I mount a rooftop tent on it?
Yes. 300 lbs dynamic covers the tent plus accessories while driving, and 700 lbs static covers the tent plus occupants once parked. The 68 by 56.5 inch platform suits most hardshell and softshell tents, though a longer tent will overhang the cab. Which fairing should I choose?
Choose Full Height if you are not running a light bar, since it deflects the most air for the quietest ride. Choose Half Height if you want a single-row light bar to sit flush with the fairing line. Both cost the same. If a light bar is anywhere in your future plans, Half Height saves you buying a second fairing later.
