A heavy duty truck bed is deep. Deep enough that reaching anything past the wheel wells means climbing in, and deep enough that a full-height rack puts your gear well above your own head. The Sherpa PAK System Mid Height is the F250 bed rack that keeps the platform down where you can reach it, built for 2017-2026 Super Duty trucks with the 6.75 foot bed.
This Ford F250 bed rack sits 13 inches above the bed rails and carries 400 lbs dynamic and 1,000 lbs static on laser-cut 1/4 inch aluminum towers, secured with stainless steel hardware and nylock nuts. At roughly 55 lbs it leaves payload for the work the truck is actually doing. Three crossbars plus two standard accessory braces span a 68 by 69 inch footprint, and six bed mounting brackets tie it down. Whether you are off-roading, overlanding, or running errands around town, it is built to handle your gear so you can Adventure with Confidence. Lifetime Warranty.
Why Mid Height?
The PAK System comes in two heights. Rack Height brings the platform level with the cab roof, which suits a rooftop tent or a continuous cab-to-tailgate surface. This is the mid height bed rack, and it sits 13 inches above the rails instead.
Lower Center of Gravity
Keeping load closer to the bed rather than above the cab makes a real difference on off-camber ground and in crosswinds.
Reachable From the Ground
Thirteen inches up means you can actually get to your gear without climbing into a Super Duty bed or onto a tire.
Less Wind Drag
A lower profile presents less frontal area. On a truck that already drinks fuel, that is worth something.
The trade is overhead space. Mid height does not give you a flat surface level with the cab, so a rooftop tent, a long ladder run, or anything that needs to clear the cab belongs on Rack Height instead. Choose Mid Height if you mostly carry bikes, boards, cans, recovery gear, and cargo you want within reach.
Built for a 6.75 Foot Bed
This rack is sized for the long 6.75 foot bed on a 2017-2026 F-250 or F-350, at a 68 by 69 inch footprint. That is a lot of usable platform, and it is the reason a Super Duty makes such a good overland base once the storage problem is solved.
Six bed mounting brackets spread the load across the rails rather than concentrating it, which is where the 1,000 lb static rating comes from. As an F350 bed rack it fits exactly the same, since the two trucks share the bed.
The Bed Rack, Elevated.
4 YEARS AND 100,000+ MILES IN THE MAKING
Sherpa has built its name on high quality products that customers know will stand the test of time regardless of what they are put through. Looking at the bed rack market, they knew there was room for improvement. Four years and 100,000 miles of brutal testing later, the PAK System was born. Paying homage to the Sherpas of Nepal, it is a PAK you can trust to carry the burden: one of the toughest bed racks on the market, paired with unmatched adaptability.
Crafted
Manufactured in Colorado with precision laser-cut 1/4" aluminum towers formed with CNC accuracy by Sherpa's team of professionals. They have created a very stout mounting structure, secured with stainless steel hardware and nylock nuts, that will keep your gear where you need it. Nylock nuts matter on a bed rack in particular, because washboard and trail vibration are exactly what loosens standard hardware over time.
Adaptable
Sherpa knows the importance of mounting all of your goodies on your rig. With the PAK System, you have the ability to mount just about anything, anywhere. With slots and holes all over, plus Sherpa's line of PAK accessories, you will never find yourself wishing you could mount something. Three crossbars and two standard accessory braces give you mounting positions along the length of the bed.
Durable
Strength is built into Sherpa's brand and the PAK System is no slouch in that department. Using the best in materials and hardware, you can beat on this system every weekend and trust it to show up to work on Monday. On a Super Duty, Monday usually is a work day, and four years and over 100,000 test miles went into proving this system before it shipped. All backed by Sherpa's Lifetime Warranty.
One Rack, a Lot of Configurations
An overland bed rack earns its keep through accessories, and the PAK System is built around them. Here it is cycling through a range of setups: gear up top, cans and boards on the sides, and everything in between.

Pros
- 1,000 lbs static and 400 lbs dynamic, the same rating as Rack Height
- An F250 overland bed rack that sits 13 inches above the rails, so gear stays reachable from the ground
- Lower center of gravity than a full-height rack
- Six bed mounting brackets spread load across the rails
- 1/4" laser-cut aluminum towers at about 55 lbs
- Stainless hardware with nylock nuts that resist vibration loosening
- Slots and holes throughout for PAK accessories and third-party gear
- Made in Colorado with a Lifetime Warranty
Cons
- Not suitable for a rooftop tent, since the platform does not clear the cab. Choose Rack Height for that
- Three crossbars, fewer mounting positions than a Rack Height setup
- Sized for the 6.75' bed only
- Covers the bed, which limits what you can load from above into the bed itself
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose Mid Height or Rack Height?
Mid Height sits 13 inches above the bed rails, which lowers your center of gravity, reduces wind drag, and keeps gear reachable from the ground. Rack Height brings the platform level with the cab roof, which is what you need for a rooftop tent, a continuous cab-to-tailgate surface, or long loads that clear the cab. If a tent is in the plan, choose Rack Height. Otherwise Mid Height is usually the more practical choice.
Can I put a rooftop tent on it?
Not practically. The load rating would handle it at 400 lbs dynamic and 1,000 lbs static, but a mid-height platform does not clear the cab, so the tent would sit in a hollow between the cab and the tailgate with poor access and awkward clearance. Rack Height is the version built for tents. Call us at 844-200-3979 and we will sort out which you need.
Will it fit my F-350?
Yes. The F-250 and F-350 share the same bed, so this fits both across 2017 through 2026 as long as you have the 6.75 foot bed. Call us at 844-200-3979 with your year and bed length if you want confirmation before ordering.
What can I mount on it?
Within the 400 lb dynamic rating, plenty. Bikes, kayaks, boards, fuel and water cans, traction boards, a shovel, lumber, ladders, or an awning. The three crossbars and two accessory braces have slots and holes throughout, and the PAK accessory line bolts straight in. Mid height keeps all of it within arm's reach from the ground.
Can I still use the bed underneath?
Yes, and the 13 inch height leaves useful room below the platform. What changes is loading from above, since the rack spans the bed. Most owners load from the tailgate or run drawers and boxes underneath. If you regularly drop bulky items in from above with a crane or forklift, that is worth factoring in.
How does it compare to Sherpa's roof racks?
The PAK System is Sherpa's bed rack line, separate from the PEAK roof racks. It uses the same 1/4 inch aluminum construction and the same Lifetime Warranty, but it is built around towers and accessory braces rather than a flat sideplate frame. On a Super Duty, a bed rack and a cab rack work well together: we carry the Sherpa Thunder for the cab.
