Having a good and reliable suspension system is a crucial part of any vehicle let alone an off-road vehicle. It can help your car move better across rocky terrain without damaging it. That's why we are happy to introduce the Icon suspension system designed to fit the 4Runner models.
The Icon 5th Gen 4Runner suspension kit was constructed out of durable CNC machined 6061 aircraft grade aluminum and has a corrosion-resistant CAD plated coilover shock body with 7/8" shaft. This is also a bolt-on system meaning that no cutting or welding is needed for the installation.
The 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner Stage 7 suspension systems from ICON offer the highest level of on- and off-road performance. All of the parts featured in the Stage 6 setup are included in this setup, including the ICON billet aluminum Delta Joint upper control arm kit, 2.5 Series Remote Reservoir front coilovers, 2.5 Aluminum Series rear remote reservoir shocks, 2" rear coil springs, adjustable rear track bar, and a billet aluminum rear upper and lower link arm kit. However, the Compression Damping Control Valve (CDCV) front and rear has been added.
The simple-to-adjust CDC Valve enables end-user compression modifications to deliver the best ride quality over all kinds of terrain and vehicle freight configurations. The rear of the car can operate harder for longer periods of time without obvious "fade" because to the remote reservoir design's higher shock oil volume and improved cooling.
The 2.5 Aluminum Series Remote Reservoir rear shocks are also equipped with ICON's "Bump Zone" technology, which greatly improves damping capacity in the final 2" of compression travel, reducing unpleasant bottom-out sensation and providing the vehicle with a considerably more controlled ride quality over varied terrain.
ICON's billet aluminum links can be adjusted for the ideal pinion angle, include a greaseable dual stage bushing, and are far stronger than OE ones. Additionally, these linkages have been created to offer the proper roll steer geometry for the greatest on and off-road performance.
Upper control arms with the proprietary ICON Delta Joint are a component of this system. The Delta Joint is a heavy-duty, high-angle ball joint that combines typical uniball performance with the durability of a ball joint. The industry standard uniball does an excellent job of enabling a vehicle's control arms to articulate with minimum binding, but it has an inherent flaw that leaves more to be desired when employed in a daily driving application: exposure to the environment.
The Delta Joint has a zinc-plated housing that offers the first line of defense against corrosion, and a robust grease seal keeps potentially dangerous materials out of the joint's interior workings. Its durability is increased by its metal-on-metal construction and greaseable design, both of which enable noiseless operation.
The Delta Joint is special because it gives ICON upper control arms the best of both worlds thanks to qualities that make it more durable than a uniball and, at the same time, capable of greater angularity than a normal ball joint.
Upper Control Arm
Whenever you are changing your vehicle's geometry and upgrading it with a suspension kit, especially on 4WD vehicles, you absolutely need an upper control arm. The UCA is there to correct alignment and inherent clearance issues that arise when you lift or modify the suspension of your 4WD. Upper control arms can be found on independent front suspension (IFS) vehicles and they connect the top of the spindle to the frame.
The UCA is not a load-bearing piece of an IFS suspension, however, it does serve the purpose of guiding your spindle in a pre-determined motion when your suspension cycles up or down. Said load is handled by the lower control arm, which connects to the lower portion of the spindle.
