Any vehicle, much less an off-road vehicle, must have a reliable and sturdy suspension system. It can improve how well your car handles rocky terrain without harming it. We are therefore delighted to present the Icon suspension system made to fit the Tacoma models.
The Icon 3rd Gen Tacoma suspension kit was constructed out of durable CNC machined 6061 aircraft grade aluminum and has a corrosion-resistant CAD plated coilover shock body with 7/8" shaft. This is also a bolt-on system meaning that no cutting or welding is needed for installation.
ICON 3rd Gen Tacoma suspension systems are built for top performance. The primary goal of ICON engineers while creating these systems was to enhance tire travel and damping capacity, which translates into exceptional vehicle control and ride quality both on and off-road. With the inclusion of rear suspension parts like an ICON RXT multi-rate leaf spring and a distinctive 2.5 Aluminum Series shock, this Stage 10 system goes one step further in bringing ICON performance to the Tacoma.
The Stage 10 system contains 2.5 Series Extended Travel coilover shocks that have been specifically adjusted for the car and are fitted with ICON's CDC (Compression Damping Control) Valve. The simple-to-adjust CDC Valve enables end-user compression modifications to deliver the best ride quality on all kinds of terrain and with all kinds of cargo arrangements for vehicles.
Additionally, the coilovers have a remote reservoir for exceptional cooling, ICON-engineered Eibach coil springs for superior vehicle "feel" throughout the range of travel, and they are height-adjustable from 0-3.5" of lift over stock for 2005-2015 models or 0-2.75" of lift for 2016 and up models. This flexibility enables the use of bigger, more aggressive wheel and tire combinations.
These extended travel coilovers expand the front suspension's droop travel when paired with the ICON upper control arm that is already included. The ICON RXT multi-rate leaf springs are installed to the truck's rear to improve the ride quality and add more droop travel.
This leaf spring is ideal for drivers seeking improved rear ride quality in a "unloaded" vehicle as well as those who have outfitted their trucks with a significant amount of weight in the form of a bed rack, roof top tent, spare tires, parts, or other additions. It is designed with an additional leaf (included with kit) that can be exchanged or added to the pack to yield an additional 10–20% spring rate.
The Stage 10 system includes a special 2.5 Aluminum Series remote reservoir Omega bypass shock with a side-mount eyelet that makes it shorter in collapsed length, longer at extension, and yet fits in the factory mounting location to complement this increase in rear wheel travel.
A huge 10 inch remote reservoir was also included to help with heat dissipation and prevent shock fade during enthusiastic driving. This shock combines vehicle-specific valving with compression and rebound adjustment, providing end-users complete control over performance and ride comfort.
Upper control arms with the proprietary ICON Delta Joint are a component of this system. The Delta Joint is a heavy-duty, high-angle ball joint that combines typical uniball performance with the durability of a ball joint. Although the industry standard uniball performs a superb job of allowing a vehicle's control arms to articulate with little bind, it does have a built-in flaw that leaves more to be desired when employed in a daily driven application: exposure to the environment.
The Delta Joint has a zinc-plated housing that offers the first line of defense against corrosion, and a robust grease seal keeps potentially dangerous materials out of the joint's interior workings. The Delta Joint's durability is increased by its metal on metal construction and greaseable design, both of which enable noiseless operation. The Delta Joint is special because it gives ICON upper control arms the best of both worlds thanks to qualities that make it more durable than a uniball and, at the same time, capable of greater angularity than a normal ball joint.
Upper Control Arm
Whenever you are changing your vehicle's geometry and upgrading it with a suspension kit, especially on 4WD vehicles, you absolutely need an upper control arm. The UCA is there to correct alignment and inherent clearance issues that arise when you lift or modify the suspension of your 4WD. Upper control arms can be found on independent front suspension (IFS) vehicles and they connect the top of the spindle to the frame.
The UCA is not a load-bearing piece of an IFS suspension, however, it does serve the purpose of guiding your spindle in a pre-determined motion when your suspension cycles up or down. Said load is handled by the lower control arm, which connects to the lower portion of the spindle.
