Cantilever Design. Cold-Weather Ready. Everything Included.
OVS XD Atlas Roof Top Tent. 2-person cantilever hardshell. 4-season with included cold weather kit.
The OVS XD Atlas is a cantilever-style hardshell roof top tent built around the idea that everything you need should be in the box when it arrives. Cold weather insulation kit, anti-condensation mat, blackout fabric, integrated LED lighting, flexi-panel ceiling storage, load-carrying crossbars, premium memory foam mattress, and an 81" telescoping ladder. All included. Most competing tents charge separately for at least half of those items. OVS does not.
The cantilever opening design uses two nitrogen gas-charged struts to pop the ABS plastic shell open in about 2 minutes, transforming the compact 60" x 52" x 13" closed footprint into a 60" x 87" x 53" living space with 53 inches of headroom. The 320G ripstop polycotton Oxford body with blackout interior coating blocks all light intrusion and reduces heat. A 5000 PU waterproof rating with military-spec seals keeps water, mold, and the elements firmly outside. Backed by a limited lifetime structural warranty and a 6-year fabric warranty.
Lightweight ABS Shell
The ABS plastic shell is lighter than aluminum while providing excellent impact resistance and UV stability. Combined with the aluminum honeycomb base, you get a strong, lightweight structure that keeps total weight at 180 lbs and makes setup and closure a breeze.
Side Windows with Shade Coverage
Large side windows with no-see-um breathable mesh screens provide excellent ventilation and natural light while keeping insects out. The cantilever shell extends over the windows, providing built-in shade coverage that reduces direct sun exposure inside the tent.
Integrated Load-Carrying Crossbars
Crossbars are included and carry up to 100 lbs when the tent is closed and 45 lbs when open. Mount bikes, a solar panel, traction boards, or a cargo basket on top of the shell. Most competitors charge extra for crossbars or do not offer them at all.
Premium 320G Rip Stop Polycotton
The tent body uses 320G ripstop polycotton Oxford fabric with a blackout interior coating that blocks all light intrusion and reduces heat. A 5000 PU waterproof rating with military-spec seals keeps water and mold out. 302 FMVSS certified for flame retardancy.
No-See-Um Mesh Window Screens
Every window uses no-see-um breathable mesh that keeps even the smallest insects out while maintaining airflow. No compromises between ventilation and insect protection. Combined with the skylight, you get cross-ventilation from multiple directions.
Premium Memory Foam Mattress
The included high-density memory foam mattress with cotton cover provides genuine comfort after long days on the trail. Sleeping area measures 81" L x 50" W. The mattress stays inside the tent when closed, along with your sleeping bags and pillows.
AC/Heater Insertion Port
A purpose-built port lets you run a heater duct or AC hose into the tent without leaving a window or door open. Combined with the cold weather insulation kit, this makes the XD Atlas a genuine 4-season tent that can be climate-controlled for extreme temperatures.
Anti-Condensation Mat Included
The included anti-condensation mat sits between the mattress and the aluminum honeycomb base, managing moisture in varying climates. You do not wake up to a damp sleeping surface. Most competing tents sell this as a separate accessory for $50-$100. OVS includes it.
Cold Weather Insulation Kit Included
The zip-up insulation kit uses breathable polycotton with high-frequency welded seams. It lines the interior for thermal protection in cold conditions. Most competitors charge $200-$400 extra for a winter kit. The XD Atlas includes it in the box.

More Features
Cantilever Opening Design: The X-hinge cantilever system with two nitrogen gas-charged struts lifts the shell and extends the sleeping platform beyond the base footprint. This gives you a larger sleeping area (81" x 50") than the closed footprint (60" x 52") would suggest. Setup takes about 2 minutes. Teardown takes about 2 minutes.
Interior LED Lighting: An integrated LED light strip illuminates the tent interior. No headlamps or lanterns needed. Combined with the blackout fabric that blocks all exterior light, you have full control over your lighting environment.
Skylight: A built-in skylight lets you stargaze from your sleeping bag. Open the skylight mesh for fresh air overhead or zip it closed for full weather protection.
Flexi-Panel Ceiling Storage: The flexi-panel organizer keeps phones, headlamps, books, glasses, and small gear organized overhead and within reach. No more losing items in bedding or digging through bags at night.
Shoe Bags: Hanging shoe bags keep mud and dirt out of the tent. Stow your boots before climbing in so the sleeping area stays clean.
Storage When Closed: The tent stores sleeping bags, pillows, and the telescoping ladder inside when closed. Arrive at camp, pop the tent open, and your bed is ready from the night before.

Choose the XD Atlas if you want the lighter weight (180 vs 220 lbs), the taller interior (53" vs 51"), the larger sleeping area (81" vs 78" length), and the cantilever design that extends beyond the base footprint. Choose the XD K2 if you want the all-aluminum honeycomb construction and the dual clamshell design with up to 3 entry points on all sides.
Pros
- Cold weather insulation kit and anti-condensation mat included (most competitors charge $200-$400 extra)

- Cantilever design extends the sleeping platform beyond the base footprint for more usable interior space
- Integrated crossbars carry 100 lbs closed for gear, solar, or accessories on top

Frequently Asked Questions
What is included with the XD Atlas that other tents charge extra for?
The XD Atlas includes a cold weather insulation kit, anti-condensation mat, integrated LED light strip, flexi-panel ceiling storage, load-carrying crossbars, hanging shoe bags, premium high-density memory foam mattress, and an 81" telescoping ladder. Most competing hardshell tents at this price point sell the cold weather kit, anti-condensation mat, and crossbars as separate accessories. OVS includes them all in the box.
What rack do I need for the XD Atlas?
You need a roof rack, bed rack, or crossbar system with a dynamic load rating of at least 180 lbs. The closed footprint is 60" x 52" x 13". Factory crossbars on most vehicles will not be sufficient. You will need aftermarket racks from Prinsu, Front Runner, or similar brands rated for this load. Stainless steel mounting hardware is included. Call us at 844-200-3979 to confirm compatibility.
Is the XD Atlas good for winter camping?
Yes. The included cold weather insulation kit (breathable polycotton with high-frequency welded seams) lines the interior for thermal protection. The anti-condensation mat manages moisture. The AC/heater port lets you run a heater duct into the tent without opening a window. The 5000 PU waterproof rating with military-spec seals handles snow and rain. The blackout fabric reduces heat loss through the tent body. Pair with a sleeping bag rated for your expected temperatures.
What is the difference between a cantilever and a clamshell tent?
A cantilever tent (like the XD Atlas) uses an X-hinge system where the shell lifts and extends the sleeping platform beyond the base footprint. This gives you a sleeping area (81" x 50") that is larger than the closed footprint (60" x 52"). A clamshell tent (like the XD K2) opens from one or both sides like a clam, with the sleeping area staying within the footprint of the base. Cantilever designs offer more sleeping length. Clamshell designs offer more entry point options.
Can I store bedding inside when the tent is closed?
Yes. The XD Atlas stores sleeping bags, pillows, and the telescoping ladder inside when closed. Pop the tent open at camp and your bed is ready from the night before. The flexi-panel ceiling storage and shoe bags also stay organized inside during transit.
