A Tent Platform That Leaves Your Ranger's Bed Free
Cali Raised LED overland bed rack for the 2019-2024 Ford Ranger. 55 lbs, three heights, bolt-on.
The Ranger is a great overland truck right up to the moment you try to fit a rooftop tent, a fridge, recovery boards and a week of water into a five or six-foot bed. Something has to go up. A Ford Ranger bed rack is how you get it up there without drilling the cab roof or giving up the bed underneath.
This one is Cali Raised LED's overland bed rack, built specifically for the 2019-2024 Ford Ranger. It is 80% aluminum, weighs about 55 lbs, bolts on with no drilling, and comes in three heights so you can choose how much room you want underneath. The rails use a T-slot channel, so the rooftop tent, the RotopaX and the recovery boards go wherever you want them rather than where a fixed hole happens to be. It is laser cut, press-braked and welded in-house in Fort Worth, Texas.
Driving a 2024? Check With Us First
Cali Raised list this rack for every 2019-2024 Ranger, all trims and both bed lengths. Worth knowing, though: 2024 was the first model year of the new-generation Ranger in the US. If yours is a 2024, send us your year, cab and bed length and we will confirm fitment with Cali Raised before your rack ships.

Why a Bed Rack Suits the Ranger So Well
On a midsize truck, every pound and every inch counts more than it does on a full-size. That is where a Ford Ranger truck bed rack like this one earns its place.
Payload Is Tight
A midsize truck does not have payload to waste. At about 55 lbs, the rack leaves more of your budget for the tent, the fridge and the people.
No Drilling the Cab
A cab roof rack on a Ranger often means drilling and riveting. This bolts into the bed, and the truck goes back to stock whenever you want.
The Bed Stays Usable
The tent sits on the rack, not in the bed. Everything underneath stays available for gear, a fridge or a drawer system.
Bed Rack or Cab Roof Rack?
We also sell cab roof racks, and for some builds that kind of Ford Ranger rack is the right answer. Here is the honest split.
| This Bed Rack | A Cab Roof Rack | |
|---|---|---|
| Install | Bolt-on, no drilling | Often drilling and rivets on a Ranger |
| Tent position | Over the bed | Over the cab |
| Bed space | Platform overhead, bed usable underneath | Bed completely clear |
| Best for | Tent plus a loaded bed, no drilling | Keeping the bed completely open, or running a bed cover |
Plenty of Ranger owners end up running both: lights and a recovery board on a cab rack, the tent on the bed rack. Call us if you are weighing it up.
7", 10" or 17.5"? Pick Based on What Goes Underneath
All three heights carry a tent the same way. What changes is the space below the platform, the overall height of the truck, and how much wind the tent catches at speed.
| Height | Name | Choose It If |
|---|---|---|
| 7" | Short | The bed stays light, you want the lowest overall height for car parks and garages, and you want to keep the tent tucked down for less drag on the highway. |
| 10" | Mid | You want a tent overhead and room for duffels, a cooler or a recovery kit below. The most common choice for weekend builds. |
| 17.5" | Tall | You run a drawer system, a fridge slide or carry bikes in the bed, and need real working room under the tent. |
Measure before you choose tall. The 17.5" option adds real height to the truck once a tent is on top. Check your garage door and any regular car parks before ordering, particularly with a hardshell tent. It is the one decision on this rack that is genuinely annoying to change later.
Putting a Rooftop Tent on Your Ranger
Most people buying a Ford Ranger overland bed rack are doing it for a Ford Ranger roof top tent. Cali Raised rate this rack to exceed the weight limits of nearly any rooftop tent on the market, so the rack itself is very unlikely to be the limiting factor.
What is more likely to limit you is the truck. Before you load up, add up the tent, the rack, everything in the bed and everyone in the cab, and check it against the payload on your Ranger's door-jamb sticker. That figure varies by cab, bed and trim, so use the number for your truck rather than a general one. If you are close, the 55 lb rack weight is one of the easier places to save compared with a heavy steel rack.
About the Load Rating
Cali Raised describe the rack as having increased static and dynamic payload capacity and say it exceeds the weight limit of nearly any rooftop tent. What they do not publish for this Ranger rack is a numeric static or dynamic figure, so we are not going to invent one.
If you need a hard number for your setup, for example a heavy hardshell plus a full load of gear on the rails, call us and we will get the answer from Cali Raised before you order.
The T-Slot Channel
Fixed mounting holes work until you buy a piece of gear that does not line up with them. The T-slot channel avoids that problem: hardware slides along the rail and locks down wherever you need it.
- Rooftop tents: mount the tent where the weight balances best over the bed, not where the holes are.
- RotopaX and fuel cans: fuel, water or storage packs on the side rails.
- Recovery boards and shovels: outside the bed, where you can reach them while stuck.
- Lights and awnings: adjust positions as the build changes without re-drilling anything.
How It Is Built
The rack is laser cut, press-braked and welded in-house in Fort Worth, Texas. The construction is 80% aluminum and 20% steel, which is how it carries a tent at 55 lbs.
The black semi-gloss mini texture powder coat resists rust, UV and trail wear. The light texture also hides scuffs better than a smooth gloss, which helps on a rack that has gear constantly going on and off it.
Installation
Bolt-on with the hardware included and no drilling, designed for an at-home install. A few tips from fitting these:
- Two people. At 55 lbs it is manageable, but lining up both sides at once is much easier with help.
- Empty the bed first. You need clear access to the bed rails and the mounting points.
- Snug everything, then torque. Get every bolt started and the rack square on the bed before final tightening.
- Re-check after the first trip. Especially after rough roads with a tent on top.
Cali Raised publish step-by-step install instructions and a video for this rack. Ask us and we will send them over before you order, so you can see exactly what the job involves.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this Ford Ranger bed rack fit my truck?
Cali Raised designed it for the 2019-2024 Ford Ranger, all trims, in short and long bed versions. 2024 was the first year of the new-generation Ranger in the US, so if yours is a 2024, send us your cab and bed length and we will confirm before it ships.
Can I put a rooftop tent on it?
Yes. Cali Raised rate it to exceed the weight limits of nearly any rooftop tent on the market. The limit you are more likely to hit is your Ranger's payload, so add up the tent, rack, gear and passengers and check it against your door-jamb sticker.
Which height should I choose for my Ranger?
Choose by what goes underneath. 7" Short for a light bed and the lowest profile, 10" Mid for a tent with gear below, and 17.5" Tall for drawers, a fridge slide or bikes. Check garage and car park clearance before choosing tall.
Do I need to drill my truck?
No. It is fully bolt-on with all hardware included and designed for an at-home install. That is one of the main reasons Ranger owners choose a bed rack over a cab roof rack, which often needs drilling and rivets.
Can I run it with my tonneau cover?
Cali Raised do not list tonneau cover compatibility for this rack, so do not assume it will work with yours. Send us your cover's make and model and we will check. If keeping the tonneau matters most, a cab roof rack may be the simpler route.
