You end up seeing a wall of illuminated haze instead of the trail. Amber light is a longer wavelength that scatters less off those particles, which is why so many drivers reach for it the moment conditions turn ugly.
This is the Cali Raised LED 42" Slim Single Row bar in amber. It runs 40 individual 5W CREE LEDs for 200 watts and 20,000 lumens in a spot beam pattern, packed into a slim single-row housing that mounts where a taller dual-row bar will not fit. Extruded aluminum housing, polycarbonate lens, integrated thermal management, and a GORE pressure equalizing vent to stop condensation from forming inside. About the lens: Cali Raised LED amber lights have a clear lens. The bar looks like a standard clear light bar when it is off, and shines amber when you turn it on. You are not adding a yellow-tinted bar to your build.
Why Amber Instead of White?
The short version: amber cuts glare in bad weather and white does not.
In fog, water droplets suspended in the air act like tiny mirrors. They reflect light from your own bar back toward your eyes. The shorter the wavelength, the worse this gets, which is why white and blue-heavy light produces that blinding wall effect in fog while amber punches through with far less bounce-back. The same physics applies to blowing dust and falling snow.
There is a fatigue argument too. Blue-heavy white light focuses slightly in front of the retina rather than on it, which reads as a soft haze around objects. That is discomfort glare, and it is a common complaint from drivers running bright white light against snow or fog. Over a long night drive it wears you out. Amber light is easier on your eyes over hours behind the wheel.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the lens yellow, or does it just shine amber?
The lens is clear. Cali Raised LED amber bars use a clear polycarbonate lens and the amber comes from the LEDs themselves. When the bar is off it looks like any standard clear light bar on your rack or bumper. Turn it on and the output is amber. You are not adding a permanently yellow-tinted piece to your build.
Should I get amber or white?
Get amber if you regularly drive in fog, blowing dust, or falling snow. White light reflects off those airborne particles and throws glare back at you, while amber's longer wavelength scatters less and lets you actually see the trail. Get white if most of your night driving is in clear conditions where raw distance and color rendering matter more. Plenty of builds run both and switch based on conditions. Will it fit my roof rack?
It fits most platform roof racks including Prinsu, Gobi, and Front Runner, plus bumper and grille mounts. Is it waterproof enough for river crossings?
Yes. The IP68 rating means it is sealed against dust, dirt, and sand and tested to survive submersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. The GORE pressure equalizing vent is the part that matters long term. It lets the housing breathe as it heats and cools without pulling moisture past the seals, which is what causes lens fogging on cheaper bars after a season or two.
What beam patterns does this bar come in?
The 42" Slim Single Row is available in spot, flood, and combo beam patterns. Spot throws a tight, focused beam far down the trail. Flood spreads wide for close-in area coverage. Single row or dual row?
Slim single row bars have a much lower profile, which makes them easier to fit in tight spaces like lower bumpers, behind a half-height rack fairing, or anywhere overall height matters. Dual row bars stack two rows of LEDs for more total output but are noticeably taller. If clearance or a clean low-profile look drives your build, go single row. If maximum raw output is the only priority and you have the space, go dual row.
